My parking brake light won't turn off. When parking brake is pulled up the light is bright. When parking brake is down the light is still on but dimmer. I pulled the center console and tested the wire for the brake. It is working perfectly but it's back feeding a small ground. But I disconnected the wire to be sure the switch wasn't getting a small connection. The light stayed on. I read the brake fluid sensor turns it on. Brake resivior is full. So I disconnected the level sensor. Light stayed on nice and bright. So I jumped it with a wire and it got dim again but never turned off. So with the parking brake switch disconnected and brake fluid level sensor jumped the light never went out.

I did remove the console. And looked at the switch. I tested the switch with a test light and a voltmeter. The switch itself is working as it should. I even disconnected the switch and manually grounded the wire. It makes the light brighter but the light doesn't turn off. I just got done with my dsmlink but I'm not sure if it did this prior to the install.

Does it always stay on or does it shut off after a point?

Recently mine will stay on every morning when turning on my car but once I drive around and shut off the car for a while, the light will work properly for the rest of the day. Really weird but I haven't even begun caring about it.

I'm leaning towards the short. But no I haven't driven it. I got this car out of a field from a 4 year parking spot. Me and my kids were rebuilding the whole car. But I got about an hour left of fixing a high idle/ surge then I'm ready for the first test drive.

Yea, when you say it gets brighter when you ground it, it sounds like a weak short to ground somewhere in the wiring. Bummer. Sounds like you have to dig through the wiring under the dash. Maybe its closer to the console, you'll just have to trace it down.

The same light is used for both e-brake and low brake fluid. you might be low on brake fluid, or the float/switch in the brake reservoir is stuck closed. Open the cap and move the float with your finger.

This happens to me sometimes, usually during the summer tho.

Not the brake level. I removed the plug from the resivior and jumped it. Maybe the ecu caught it when I bolted it down.

Thought IDE share. I did some more searching and found multiple people that had this problem. I guess I forgot to mention the battery light is on. They all said it's the alternator. Since I just got done building this motor I don't have the accs belts on yet. But I have a fully charged battery that stays on a small charger. The voltage never drops below 12v. When any of u turn the key to the on position and don't start the car does the battery stay on? And why would it throw a light with just sitting there with koeo
