any one have any idea how thick the panel metal is on a 1g. I plan on going to a junkyard and cutting out exact peices to fit and having my friends dad weld them in. I obviusly cant bring in a nice airpowered cutter, so would some metal sheers be good enough?

I've got a battery pack powered sawzall that I used to cut some extraneous stuff from my trunk. It's a cheap one from Coleman. Looks like there is a smaller kit without some of the other tools.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Coleman kit (the drill is a little on the weaker side when it comes to heavy duty construction work, and the batteries are not as good), but ... it was really inexpensive compared to the heavy duty brands like Dewalt.

It will do the trick. Not sure if you'll need two battery packs.

I work at a hardware store to ill see what I can did up

I planed on cutting out a bit more then i need, IDK about welding or how to weld im having my friends dad do it
My manager at work also told me I can just use rivets to bold on new metal in places that are not visible and use filler to make them match,

You can use rivets for inside folds that are covered by interior trim panels. But as far as the exterior is concerned, it's pretty much got to be welded in, have the weld ground just a hair under flush, and smooth the whole thing out with filler. Personally, I've taken a liking for Duraglass and Bondo-glass type short strand fiberglass hybrid filler... they sand out smooth like standard fillers, but they are stronger and have the ability to flex some. They have been amazingly useful for my current projects.

What about my door frames, not exterior but its not covered by trim, was wondering if I could just rivet those it and call it a day. Not to sure, whats wrong with metal mesh and filler?
