palm cable problems

okay i have a palm m505 that came with hotsync cable which has usb connection on the end. i bought the data logging cable which is a serial plug, so my question is, can i cut the usb plug off hotsync cable and wire in a serial plug so i can plug it into logging cable?

I don't think so. Back in the day I had to get a serial to USB adapter to load the pocketlogger software to the Palm from my computer since it didn't have a serial output. I don't know if they ever made a USB to serial adapter, but if they did good luck finding one. Your best bet is to try to find a hotsync cable with a serial connection. I saw some on ebay awhile back, but haven't seen any recently.
