paintjob on 1g dsm

hey guys, just wondering if you guys (specially the guys who had it done) know details about a paintjob.
i need it to basically shine, i dont know if its 3 coats and 2 clear coats, etc.
how much does it run for a 1g (90) dsm, to get it painted the same color (gloss black) and just the exterior? no engine bay, just the outside...

a GOOD paint job will set you back 2500 + .less if you do some of the prep work yourself or get it done at macco 3 coats and 2 clear coats, will be very expensive , not worth it on a 1g IMO ( no offense , I have a 1g )

Make sure you take off your spoiler and all trim. I plan on a paint job as well. I will be painting my 2 tone midnight blue talon completely midnight blue. I like my cars to be all one color personally. These cars look fantastic once clean and lowered with some nice rims.

i paid 1800 for mine.

i removed all trim pieces, spoliers, lights, etc, and did a lot of sanding. i also re-assembled everything myself.

i had the shop take out a few dents and rust spots for me, and primer/paint the whole car.

they took 6 months to do it, and i got a discount for that as well. i think for just a full paint job 2000 is a safe estimate. at least for a good one.

well it shouldnt take that long. i said im not in any hurry, take your time and give me a good deal so they did. you should be able to get your car back in 2 weeks tops.

There are a ton of paint/body shops in the dfw area, most reasonably priced. Take your car to atleast 3 shops or so tell them what you want and see what they say.

IMO, black only looks good on cars that you dont own. Way to much work for me to keep them looking that good. But whatever floats your boat.

As far as painting, it will always be cheaper if the shop has to do less work. Start taking things like the spolier off and all that. Then just get yourself some 800 grit wet or dry sandpaper and just wetsand the car yourself. It makes less work for them and thus makes it cheaper.
