2G Painted my Valve cover Chrome and some other things Chrome, Tell me what you think?

I have an idea. It would either rock or look like crap.

Paint the big letters red outlined in black. It will take some time and either a steady hand or some masking, but I think it could look wicked. It would make the letters jump out and match the plug wires. The small "2000" and the others raised lines could be painted black.

that would take a really long time LOL, but would probably look good, wish i was good in photoshop to see different styles that can be done. I was looking into something like this:

But sort of looks too original. Or something like this:

yea i love how the red one looks as well, I just dont have red things in my engine bay except for the wires  and my car is black, I was looking into my bay to look chrome/red/black. Like chrome as in every metal type object (pipes, etc.) and red as in hoses and wires. and black as in couplers or everything else. Guess that a tough decision LOL.

Ironic how many jumped to hating on your heat shields and how they'll near instantly bubble, flake and tarnish.

Have you had to respray them or is that the original work?

BTW, clean looking engine bay. I like to flat black my shiny pipes, but thats personal taste. I like what you have going.

No I havnt resprayed or anything, just going by the modding list :) I guess that spray lasts a long time LOL. But I still want to get my valve cover powdercoated, just to make it stand out more.

And thanks i like to have things clean LOL. I just have to clean up my interior, leather is a pain.

Yeah, my valve cover is done in regular yellow paint and regular clear coat, and it's be perfect for over 2 months. That's even with a few 3 hour trips. (didn't do high temp because I haven't had intentions of keeping it...:D)

+3416543468 for it comming off the heat shield.... it did on my evo LOL

what works great for painting headers. DP or anything that gets really hot is BBQ grill paint its like 1800deg or something. i painted them on my mustang whith the silver and it stayed just fine for like 3 years! and the whole TBE on my old evo and now my GSX with flat black

I have a red/black polished/silver theme in my engine bay.

That looks really good I like:thumb:

Thanks. I just bought a Synchronic BOV and had to make it match the theme. Still have to polish the paint and clean it up a bit.

Mine is a polished/black mix but I'm getting all the polished IC piping redone black chrome and the valve cover Cayenne Red Pearl to match the car.

Just an idea of what a lot of bling will look like LOL.

Also if you have this much plan on cleaning your bay like 2 times a week to keep it looking this good.

So what kind of paint did you use?

Is it still holding up?

Yea paint still holding up well, even for the heatshield, which is odd LOL. I used Duplicolor High Heat spray when I did it. I would rather powdercoat it though, gives a more smooth/glossy feel.

Tarantula: I like the polish look in your bay. Something Im trying to go for, once I get more money. I just put all red hoses and replaced the black ones. So its getting a bit nicer. Did you polish your valve cover and heatshield yourself? Must of been hard with all the lettering/lines.

I made a thread on DSMTalk on how I did my polishing. I did the Intake manifold as well. All of it was hard work. If you plan on doing it yourself, read how I did it to give you ideas.

not a big fan of chrome but... does look alright. cept for the overspray. Try to use carb cleaner to get the paint off where you don't want it. also... hows it looking today? flakey? discolored?

Well here is recent pic, overspray basically gone, valve cover has a bit of bumps, probably from the spray. Im getting valve cover podercoated this coming week anyway :)
