After me and my uncle did valve cover gasket job, we decided to paint some things chrome, we painted the valve cover and the bottom parts chrome, forget what their called, the power steering cap, the letters in the sparkplug cover chrome as well (that was the toughest). Anyways tell me what you guys think, my uncle did most of it. :)

dude paint the letters on the valve cover black.. that would look sick!

hmm, I didnt think of that LOL, yea thats good idea, it would match chrome w/ black with the rest. I just hate covering, you know an easy way of covering the valve cover without letters? Like for the spark plug cover, I used tape to cover everything but letters, but it took such a long time, and I had to scrape some paint off on some parts because it was too small, thats why it looks greyish on some parts.

hmmmmmmmm.... damn didnt think about that. Dont know what kind of paint my uncle bought. Im guessing for valve cover since thats what we originally were going to do. Well lets see how long it lasts! LOL, anyways what kind of paint is good to get for that?

those heat shields are done for sure but...........
as for that valve cover i give it 3 days! thats what it took mine foe the whole front by the exhaust manifold to flake off.
get it powder coated its pricy but well worth it.
they have high temp for the shields to

I hope you prepped! If you are forced to due it over again, don't sweat it's easy, there are write-ups all over the place.

Just sand the entire VC down to scuff it up, use a high temp primer and a High temp (500*) Duplicolor Engine Paint for the base coats. Spray at least 2 coats of Primer, 3 coats of paint, and try 2-3 coats of High-temp Clear to finish it off.

For the heat shield, use a rattle can rated at 2000*. The one I purchased (flat black) was made by VHT.

Thanks, i dont care if i have to redo it. But once it flakes off or whatever, i can redo it right? But this time like you said right?

By the way where did I overspray? what is overspray? is it like I sprayed too many coats or I sprayed onto other things or what? LOL yes noob, if someone can like point it out in the pic I would appreciate it :)

Ok the intake pipe, the o2sensor heat whrap, the main water pipe, the oil dip stick tube, the waste gate arm actuator,a small antifreeze line beside the dip stick tube, and the antifreeze hose going to the thermostat housing.

yea thats what I was thinking, it did get on some other parts, but when it did we tried to spray it on those parts without getting the rest, like the oil dip stick tube, we wanted it sprayed, some of the other tubes got sprayed as well, we tried to chrome them, but it was too hard without getting more things, so we just left it as it is. When I do mods, then some of that stuff is going to be replaced anyways. Plus ill just wait for the paint to come off :) just wanted to see how it would look like.

I think the heat shields actually look good. It's just too bad you didn't remove them to paint them.

+1 on powder coating like 40$ for a valve cover and thats prep and all. Wont flake off fade whatever pretty much permanent if they did a good job. Plenty of colors to choose from too. Just a suggestion.

I'm sorry but you did a really crappy job. The overspray everywhere killed it for me especially how you tried to paint the Mitsubishi logo on the spark plug cover. The actual chrome color looks good, I just wish you had taken your time and done a good job. Post pics when you do it over again so we can see your improvements.

I did take valve cover off, we cleaned it and degreased it.

Yea i didnt like how the sparkplug cover came out, I might just buy one of those aluminum ones. So how do I get rid of overspray?

Also Day 4 and still good :) Lets see how long it lasts
