NORTHAMPTON,
I rushed my valve cover, but I still think it turned out ok. Just wanted to get an idea of what you thought. I will be painting my car Arctic Blue, the light blue color found on the Hyundai Santa Fe. Should look good with dark blue, silver and black accents in the bay. Let me know. Thanks.

Yea, it is a Hyundai cover and spark plug cover. The plug cover had the Hyundai H on it, but I ground it smooth, I want my whole car debadged. I like the cover better as well, but its just me. Some people are gonna bust my balls but yea well.

This is what it looked like stock. You can see teh spark plug cover where i ground off the H.

My car is the red awd in the pic, but I am going to paint it Arctic blue when I rip it apart after this semester. I am going to do a red one too to put on until then. It only took about 3 hours and $25 for everything- valve cover, paint stripper, metal prep and paint.

Looks good, that plug cover is interesting. But your vent's pointed the wrong way. If that matters.

Only matters when inspection time comes around. I guess since you are from CA you are used to emissions, but we just got it passed on Jan 1st. Luckily 95 and back only requires a visual inspection of all pollution control parts. I wonder how they are going to like my 3" test pipe. Na, direction dosnt matter, I put a K&N braether on N E ways.

looks nice man. I like that blue alot. looks like a candy blue.
that stock spark cover looks chrome ; is it painted plastic or metal ? I got same question about the spark cover though. what material is it made of ?
I was thinking of get one of those spark covers polished. but, i dont know if they are plastic or metal ?
N E way good job . and goodluck

The cover is plastic, it came with a sliver paint on it. It wasnt all that warped though compared to the mitsu ones, I put it in the oven for a bit to straighten it out. I then paited it with an "aluminum" colored paint. The blue paint I actually got from Auto Zone and it is some kind of anadyzing paint, just basically a translucent paint. Looks better in real life than in the pic, I put a clearcoat over it as well. Both the paint and clear are rated to 500 degrees, hopefully it holds up. I just took a DA sabder to the raised letters and then polished them.

That looks awesome. What year car did that valve cover and spark plug cover come off of? Hyundia vavle covers are the same as dsm? 91 gsx especially?

i got it from an early model sonoma or sonata, i dont remember which is older. Hyundais came with a 1.6 liter engine with the same head as the 2.0 dsm, I dont know if the head internals are the same but the casting is. I put it on a crashed head I have lying around and everything lines up fine. Should fit on all the DSM heads.

umm i was gona paint mine as well...
do i need some sort of base coat like primer?
i have the paint already...
and im assuming i have to clear coat it as well

but what do i use to take off the old paint??
can someone help me plz thanks

The polished spark plug covers are usually made of steel. I have a polished one made by OBX Racing that I got for $50 on ebay. Be careful, they scratch easily, which is the problem i now have. How to cover up the scratches...
