I want a chrome valve cover...What would be the better thing to do? should I just buy a new chrome Valve Cover( if so were should i buy one from) or should I chrome the one I already have(if so HOW do you do that?)
Thanks for any help!!!

I pretty sure you can't chrome on you own. So you would probably have to send it out to be done.

Your not going to be able to chrome your own valve cover. It need to be sent to a company that does this. Or you could not let your engine bay look all ricey and just paint the valve cover. That just my 2cents

or you could go here and not listen to peoples opinions on what you should do when you ask where and how to get somthing done just my .02 this is y i hate posting

Just go get it powder coated in what every color you want, assuming the company you choose has the color.

I think over the years these cars valve covers look like $hit. I have my spyder valve cover bright red and when i get the money doing the same to my 1g when i get the money the same. It looks so nice and every time i open the hood everyone else loves it. It never got called ricey looking i say go for your chrome :thumb:

Umm can you say that again??!

To the OP. you can use paint stripper and sand paper to get it to bare metal and just polish it like mine. Look up "polished valve cover" in the search, there are good write ups on how to do it.

You need to relocate the overflow bottle out of sight. It really stands out with all the shine in there :barf:. I do like the "DSM" sticker on the rad. support. You should take the picture over again with some brighter light. Everything just looks dull and/or dirty from the lack of light.

Yes i can say that again. IT LOOKS RICEY. It just my opinion. And i will also say the flames on his car look ricey.

Thanks "DIAMONDREV" glad to see somebody else enjoys making their car look nice too! Good looking out!! NICE motor by the way...Great job!

And "DSMDRIVER" the flames on WHO'S car looks ricey???? thought we were all here for help and to appreciate our own and other peoples rides not to down other peoples rides....guess that kinda just shows everybody how much you apperciate your own!! If you dont like someones rides keep it to yourself...maybe not everyone likes yours!

It was just and opinion. And people post on forums to hear other peoples input. And how does me talking about your car have anything to with how much i appreciate my car? And im sure not everyone person on this forum likes my car its a work and progress. But unlike you I try to give imports a good name with taste full mods, and try to steer away from the rice stereotypes that F&F slapped on us.

I can't remember the color but the powerdercoater i got all my stuff at said there is a chrome color that looks almost like the real thing. Do that most powder coaters should be able to do that for you.

I like the more stealth look myself i have most of my stuff done wrinkle black or gunmetal

my dad and i did some of that chrome powder coating on a custom t-bucket build and i dont really think it looks to bad, but i would go with the polished look instead, it looks closer to chrome than the powder coat and would probably be cheaper....but thats just my $.02

kind of a funny side note, but most cars in the first f&f were actual peoples cars. Not Hollywood fix ups for a movie.

Bottom line, to each his own, if you have an import you will be considered a ricer by people who arn't tuners regardless of your mods (dsms are considered imports to most the ignorant people who yell "####ing ricer" before we get into the dsms are domestic thing).

now i could very well be wrong but im pretty sure you cant chrome plate aluminum cause it wont stick. that is if your valve cover is infact aluminum. im pretty sure the 4g63 is so im just assuming yours is too. you can just polish it. it will take a while and some good old fasion elbow greese but if you are willing to do it then go for it!! i love the polish look but just be ready to clean it alot cause even the slightest smug sticks out like no other.
