P2R vs Magnus heat barriers and leaks

Having a problem with my 1G talon and it looks like my intake manifold is leaking. I am considering installing a heat barrier gasket but wanted opinions from people who have run either a P2R or a magnus, or, even better, both.

From my research I have seen that most people like that it cools the intake, but I am mostly concerned with how well it seals. I don't want to have to keep pulling the intake manifold on and off, its a PITA. If you could share you experience with how well it works or doesn't as a GASKET, that would be great. Thanks.

No experience with the P2R, but I think their all basically the same. Have the Magnus & no complaints. Have run one for 3 or 4 years, never had any sealing issues. I install mine with copper spray & torque to spec.

What intake manifold do you run? So copper spray directly onto the magnus and thats all?

I have both on my car

Magnus intake barrier and P2R for the TB and Eblow gasket. They both seem to be made of the same phenolic resin. They work great in my opinion.

Have you done a BLT with them? No problems? Do you use copper spray or anything similar?

Just like Daren, I torqued everything down to spec, but I did not use copper spray, thats a good idea. Boost leak test done, no leaks.

Magnus states there is no need for additional sealant or gasket:
Magnus' heat barrier gasket replaces the stock gasket and forms a heat barrier between the intake manifold and the cylinder head. This dramatically reduces intake manifold temperatures. Best part about this gasket is that it is reusable! No additional sealant or gaskets are required. Tq to factory specs.
 
I've run a Magnus for about a year now also torqued to spec no copper spray. No leaks with the first BLT after install. This weekend I plan to do a BLT in prep for my dyno time next week but I have no reason to believe it has started to leak.
 
I have bought the Extremepsi one.
I have found cutting tool mark on the both side.
I have used a light coat of Permatex grey RTV for security...
But not tested for leak, the bloc is still on the motor stand!

Mines with EvoIII intake mani. Yes I did copper spray on both sides of the gasket during install. Like others have said, probably not required but I like to make sure nothing is going to leak after assembly. No leaks with BLT, checked up to 42-43psi.

I know when I disassembled my motor. I noticed the side where the EGR is located look slightly deformed but do not leak. I had a EGR block off plate. I think the constant exhaust gas has heating the gasket. I will be installing a plug on the cylinder head to prevent a possible issue with the gasket ( previous owner installed the plate and welded the hole in the intake for the EGR :confused:) it looks like a Magnus but I can't verify.
 
I have a Magnus one and I don't have any leak there.

If you get one you'll want to plug your EGR at the head (I think a 1/8" stainless steel plug is what's needed? I forget...) so that you don't melt the gasket.
 
FWIW, I have the Magnus gasket on a JM Drag manifold.. I run 35 psi and have boost leak tested it to 45 psi and it didn't leak. I did not spray mine either. One thing to note however, I did not note a significant decrease in manifold temps vs the stock plastic type Mitsu gasket vs. the Magnus.
