First post so please forgive me if Im ignorant or stupid haha.
So i brought in my 1999 eclipse rs for inspection and it passed safety but failed emissions because of the P1390 code reading "skipped timing - one tooth or more". The mechanic I went to said the timing belt needs to be replaced and it will be around $310 for parts and labor. The previous owner of this eclipse said he replaced the timing belt not too long ago so I am unsure if thats the real problem. Theres no misfiring or obvious symptoms associated with a bad timing belt. the only thing Ive noticed is the lack of power under 2k rpm when you really floor it. I researched the code and found that it could be one or more of 4 problems:
1.timing belt improperly installed.
2. crankshaft position sensor improperly installed or connected
3. Camshaft sensor improperly installed or connected
4. Camshaft's relative position not relearned after service.

Any suggestions as to what is the most common problem. I think the relative position needs to be relearned since it was service before I got it but Im new to Mitsubishi.
