Just installed the rebuilt motor back into the car and it is not running correctly. Here is the setup:
Wiseco 8.8, Eagle rods, stainless steel valves, bronze valve guides, Fidanza adjustable cam gears, Crower stage 2 turbo cams, Crower springs and retainers, EGR blockoff kit
I capped the pcv valve vacuum and the egr ports on the valve cover and intake. The valve cover is breathing through a oil catch can.
The problem:
The car sounds like it is misfiring and it is running extremely rich (smell of gasoline is strong and the spark plugs are black along with the black smoke from the exhaust). I have checked all the vacuum lines and all the sensors. The car does not want to run without giving it some gas to keep it running. It has a very rough idle. After running it just for a minute, I pulled the plugs and one of the cylinders had smoke coming from it.
Any suggestions on things to check or that might need to be corrected would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
