Logging with my packetlogger with the o2 sensor I'm getting at EVERY rpm of the entire powerband

1.24V - 14%

The car sputters like ass the first time you crank it under 2,500 rpm's which isn't what it used to do before the 6bolt swap and I think it's the o2 sensor because of the voltage not changing or anything of the sort...

I was thinking it's either that or it's something else that is a little deeper than I know...
AnYoNe?

One other problem is code P0115 coolant sensor failure.
Any ideas on this?

No get a 2g sensor, they have the same threads. The 1g might work but not for sure, so I would match a 2g sensor with 2g ecu.
That's what I was thinking....

Just call it a 2g thermostat sensor - right?
Any other sensors you can think of that I should get just to be safe?

LIST ANY.

lets us know what happens...
Your saying a 1g sensor...
98 is saying a 2g sensor...

i think its the same part # anyways
i dont think it really matters what one you get.
bring the old one with you to make sure they match to be sure..

Awsome!
Now if this dosen't clear up my problem you got any other idears?

I'm going to drain my oil to check for coolant just in case of the HG and for my own personal security. I want to rule this option either OUT or IN as soon as possible.

I think after this sensor I'm going to replace my oem radiator anyways because of it having alot of bent rows on it.

yes if that dont fix all your problems mainly your running hot (how hot exactly??)
and your o2 voltage.

i would check my o2 voltage with a voltmeter next to see if its bad and then go from there.

hold off on the radiator.

Well I can get an OEM radiator from a friend for a little under 50 shipped still in the box according to him. So that's not bad at all.

But I think after I change that sensor I'ma go ahead and get a radiator cap also just to rule that out of the way.

If those two alone don't clear up my problem I'm going to rent a "pressure tester" for the radiator system and pressurize it and see where it's leaking from or IF it's leaking.

Pray for me that it's not an hg

Yeah Im a moron. I got those pics, but you already have that handled here along with what temp probe to change. I got under my buddies and car guess what........ no freakin' plug in the rad. The 2G's must just use that one in the Tstat housing. Replace that and it should help. That download took a shit cause my Adaware pops up every night at 3:00 AM and scans. It must have killed the DL.

before you do all this make sure your o2 sensor is working correctly it
only takes 5 min to check it out. :thumb:

let us know how it go's

Test the o2 sensor even tho I'm getting a p0115 error?

Why would this be?
I honestly think the o2 is being richened up or leaned out to far because of the damned problem with that temp sensor. That temp sensor priced at autozone is about 30 bucks!!!

And I can't tell how hot I'm running because of the damned sensor being out.. But I would imagine it's about 200-220.
:(

#1 - I'll be getting the thermostat for a 1g too right?

do you need a t-stat?? do one thing at a time, do the sensor first.
"the t-stat would be for a 1g if you even need it"

change the temp sensor first to see if that solves all your problems.

after you change your temp sensor

check your o2 voltage just to make sure its operating correctly.(as you mentioned it was operating incorrectly)

then you can go from there is what i was trying to get across to you.

I'm changing the sensor first.
But I want to know what other things I may be needing to pickup at the store while I'm there. That's why I was asking about the multiple "OTHER" parts that could be bad.

I'm going to buy a rad cap also just because the stocker one looks like junk... No reason sure tho.

I'm going to remove the sensor tonite and I'll run go get a new one.
Also I gotta get another relay for the "LOW" that I blew in my car.

You think you might be running hot because the fans aren't coming on due to the lack of a temp sensor? Hmmm, I WONDER if that might be related. ;)

Are you sure the sensor is even wired up properly? I had a problem with mine, after a clutch job. The wire got snapped off a few inches away from the sensor. Fixed that, no more problems. Just check the wiring for the temp sensor, before buying a new sensor. It may just need to be plugged in, and not need a new sensor.

And if the temp sensor doesnt fix your problems, its probably crankwalk :thumb:

Brad

Ditto on the sensor, I had one crap out (sensor + the wiring) it took Brian a WHOLE ####ING DAY to find where in the ####ing harness it was crapped out to fix it.

FWIW, when the sensor was bad, I would see 9-10 in/Hg at idle, plus it would run like ass, boost WAY too early, all kinds of shit.

Hang in there, just slowly eliminate the possibilities!!!!

Also the fan comes on as soon as you crank the car. Dosen't turn off till you kill the car but I know one of the fans relays got grounded out by mistake and that relay needs replacing but ok brads, I'll check those wires and the sensor's plug before I go and replace the sensor.

The sensor's connection and wire setup should be fine. It ran and worked flawlessly for about 7 hours on the way home without a problem. So I figure it should be fine but I trust you guys. I'll check it.

Was it the wire that was ran or was it the plug + sensor?

This part was plugged into the bottom of my thermo housing but it wasn't plugged into anything.

Now the top one that is the normal one for a 2g was plugged in like normal...

What gives with that I thought the 6bolt swap says to use a 1g thermo housing?

The top one that is normally used in a 2g is the one that is being used now.

LOL wtf that shit is confusing what you just said..
thats the sensor for the ecu it was plugged in i saw it in your pic in the first part of the thred. its the one with the ziptie..

did you fix your problem??

Update:

Removed completely the thermostat itself and it seems like the water is moving through but oddly the water has a slight brown tint to it even tho I freaking flushed it about 12 times already. So I think a new radiator is gonna be getting ordered soon.

The car sat at about 210 degrees and didn't move up till about 213 then when I turned on the AC it jumped to 217 then down to 213 and held steady. That was WITHOUT me wiring up the SPAL fan I have on the a/c side still.

Cars voltage on the o2 is fine now also.
:)

WOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOO!

No no no no no.... That was a pic I found at 1g in a 2g.

On 98's setup it shows that he said to use the bottom one and plug the sensor into it.
Now on the picture I'm posting below this is how mine is...

The RED one is the one I have a sensor plugged into.
The BLUE one is the one that is just a plugged hole in my car.

So they are REVERSE of what people are telling me is actually how mine is setup.
