Logging with my packetlogger with the o2 sensor I'm getting at EVERY rpm of the entire powerband

1.24V - 14%

The car sputters like ass the first time you crank it under 2,500 rpm's which isn't what it used to do before the 6bolt swap and I think it's the o2 sensor because of the voltage not changing or anything of the sort...

I was thinking it's either that or it's something else that is a little deeper than I know...
AnYoNe?

One other problem is code P0115 coolant sensor failure.
Any ideas on this?

Check the wire for the coolant sensor. If it is disconnected your car will never go into closed loop operation. And it will run like ass. Fix this before you worry about the O2 sensor.

PS Next time you want me to look at a post, at least link me to it, you lazy bi*** :thumb:

My bad brad's... I didn't mean to NOT show it.
Sorry about that...

Where exactly is the coolant sensor?
Also another problem is I swear I think I'm overheating... Like after about 15 mins of driving WITHOUT a thermostat in and just water not any antifreeze the car will not stay at a cool temp...

What gives with that?

But do you think the o2 sensor is bad?

yeah where abouts is the coolant sensor? if its right at the thermostat my car does not have one. anyone know where i can get one? or shoud my car even have one?

Sorry but I'm unaware of where this sensor is... So tonite I'm going to go home probably pull the radiator and I guess replace it after I do one more "flush" of the engines coolant system.

I'm hoping to god it's not the headgasket because I have no technical knowledge as to how to repair/replace a headgasket. Nor do I have the tools or time...

On the 2G, it is in the thermostat housing, on the back side. But you did a 6 bolt conversion, I assume you used the 1G parts, and I don't know where it is then. You need to figure that out.

The thing is getting hot because the air fuel ratio is way off. And the O2 sensor is reading constantly lean because the car IS constantly lean. The coolant temp sensor affects the fuel mixture, so fix it first, and see if your other problems go away.

It's a 6bolt housing I would assume because that's another part that it says has to be used off of magnus's webpage. I've been trying to get ahold of the guy that did my 6bolt swap but I can't get ahold of him at the moment.

Compiled by Sean Caron with the help of the DSM1Gina2G list.

1G Oil Cooler (90-92 MD 157670 6bolt water cooled oil cooler)
1G Water Pump
1G Oil Pump/Front Case
1G Timing Belt necessities
2G Starter Mounting bracket
1G Water Pipe
1G lower radiator hose
1G Thermostat housing/ Water Neck
2G A/C 2G Belts

But as I stated where in the world are those sensors?
From what I've told you do you expect an HG as the problem?

looking at the motor from the front of the hood.
the coolant temp sensor is for the (ecu) is the one on the left out of the 2 that are
pointed to the font of the vehical under the T-stat housing (the bigger one).

the one on the right is the coolant temp sending unit(gauge).

and the one in the back of the housing off the neck is the coolant temp switch(a/c).

Ok , it's really hard to get in there but do you have a pic or know of a labled pic?

Air bubble. Run the engine and keep filling the radiator with distilled water. This will allow the bubble to "work itself out."

the one with the zip tie two wires coming out is the one for the (ECU)

the one to the right of it is the sending unit for the(gauge)

your missing the (A/C) one "next to the cap" yours is plugged.

On this pic, the black fitting is where you plug the 2g harness into, the one under the thermostat. The white fitting on top is just a 1g plug I put in there to plug the hole, its not plugged into anything. Then that other fitting with vaccum fittings on it is also just there to plug a hole, nothing hooked up to it. hope that helps.

So which one is it I'm supposed to be replacing?

Anyone know the part numbers where I could get these?
Would autozone carry them?

I would assume this is right eh?
:)

So Can I get that sensor at a regular auto store?

98TsiAWD said:
Oh and with just that one plugged in I get a coolant temp reading in DSMlink and my guage works, so I dont think anything else needs to be plugged in.
Sadly... last night I got a error P0115 and it stopped reading my temps.

Oh Ok!
So where's the dam sensor I need to replace in that area?

I was told there's one by the thermo housing and also there's one in the back of the radiator fan?....

Does this seem like it could all be caused my a sensor and probably the radiator cap?

The gold part is the thread and the black part is the plugin. Its all one piece and is the sensor, threads into the housing.

Ooooooh ok, I should have known that being as I see the dam area where a open end wrench will fit onto.
:|

Can a local parts store have this or will I have to order from mitsu or eagle?
Do I order a first gen or 2nd gen?

is it reading correctly???

if you gonna change out the sensor for the ecu

its the one with that zip tie on it in your pic.

yeah you can pick that sensor up at the local store.

make sure that you get the right one bring that one with you to compare it.

unplug the sensor from the harness and unscrew the sensor.

the gold part that screws in is the sensor.

Thanks bro!

So I would get one for a 95 or for the first gen?
I'm assuming for a 1st gen since the thermo housing is a first gen.

No get a 2g sensor, they have the same threads. The 1g might work but not for sure, so I would match a 2g sensor with 2g ecu.

1g for the sensor.
