Well my CEL came on and went to autozone to get it checked out. Comes out to abe a P0105 code.. map sensor malfunction. Question..what does it this sensor do? Is it affecting my performance? I searched around and couldnt find my specific questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No i dont have a MAFT..am still on a stock MAS. I searched around and i found out that the 2g turbos don't have a MAP sensor but a MDP sensor? Is this the same thing? I just want to know if it's hurting my performance or idle or anything like that, but i will get a new one soon.

My logger says that cel p0105 is a Manifold absolute pressure/ Barometric pressure sensor what does the barometric sensor do and does that hurt performance.

I had to dig pretty deep to find anything on P0105. It's not listed in the Mitsubishi service or tech manuals I have. I found this in a list of DTC's: P0105.....BARO Pressure circuit.

I found this in the old Talon Digest Archive:

Subject: pressure sensor culprit!

Hi guys,
I was having some real @#$#%ing problems with my 97 GSX running way too rich
and not making enough boost and I found two problems. After looking at my last
Satan printout ( I took the car to the dealer a month ago to see if they could
help me - yeah right, oh and to get the leaking slip yoke in my transfer case
replaced, which they did do) I saw that they retrieved 3 error codes. P0100,
P0105 AND P110. Two of them where my fault after I left the harness to the MAS
sensor unhooked after tinkering with the car, but the third fault was a
manifold pressure sensor error. so this led me to check to see what was
happening there.
One the vacuum line to my boost gauge had cracks in it, so I replaced all my
OEM vacuum lines with silicon lines.
But more importantly I removed the pressure sensor from my intake manifold and
found dirt and crud around and in it which I cleaned with a cleaner and
"extremely" carefully with a toothpick. I also cleaned the recess in which the
sensor sits. I am thinking of getting a new pressure sensor though as I could
still see some $h!t left inside the sensor, and I am guessing that with time
this may block up again. We'll see!
Voila problem solved. Also I reset the ECU and has been running fine for the
last few hours (you see I just fixed the problem this morning) :)
Thanks for all the suggestion guys, without the newsgroup I would have still
been pulling my hair out.
P.S. It seems that the dorks at Mitsubishi thought the pressure error was
attributed to the harness on the MAS being disconnected, and they didn't
bother to check, let alone replace any parts!

I replaced a bad MDP sensor with an OEM from Mitsu. I don't remember the price but I do remember they charged me over $100 for that little sucker. Last time I bought something that small and that expensive I was standing in a jewelry store.
