oxygen injection

ya know i was laying in bed eailer thinking.

what if you were to inject before the maf (maft setup would be best) pure oxygen like hospital grade or something. i mean it was to do something. if i have a couple bucks to waste it would be fun doing it to find out the outcome of experiment.

i know that air is air but the air that your car takes in is dirty and hospital grade is pure oxygen. which would lead to a more level detination of the a/f in the cylinder.

hey... not an exppert or nothing but ur idea sounds mighty interesting... u'd probably have to inject alot of oxygen though to make it worth while and overcome to regular air.. have to have some big ole tanks... but i do like the idea...

Exactly. The nitrogen molecules act as a sort of "padding" inside the combustion chamber, and it's the extra oxygen from the "N2O" molecules that creates the extra HP. Good idea, its just already been done.

it would work well even with a small amount. but you would have to watch your egt real close, and you could get more power using n2o cuz when the nitrous oxide splits it make shit VERY cold so you could use more n2o than o2 because you are less likely to melt your pistons.

Oh, and hospitals actually don't give you pure O2, that would kill you.

it would be super dangerous for your motor, pure oxygen is explosive as hell.. the air we breathe is only around 10% oxygen if that. interesting idea but nitrous owns it

Bad idea. Here's why. Oxygen is required to burn anything, but the more oxygen you use, the hotter the burn. Think about how an oxy-acetylene torch works. The reason that nitrous is such a big thing is that the nitrogen helps to cool the charge, and keeps it from burning too hot. Direct Oxygen injection would probably cause you to burn holes in your pistons in a hurry.

Guess I should read all the posts, everyone else pretty much told ya the same... Hey, have you ever seen the 10 second BBQ starter? It was a physics major at Purdue university I think... maybe a teacher... had a website up on the physics server... a webber BBQ with coals stacked pyramid style just like normal, and then filled the BBQ with liquid oxygen and tossed a match in... A) it doesn't explode... oxygen needs a catalyst to burn B) the coals were glowing within 10 seconds unfortunately C) by 15 seconds the BBQ was a molten pile on the ground.

now that sounds like a lot of fun..

so what nos kits do you guys recomend..

i was searching throught scc the other day and say a a fairly nice setup called ni-trex or something. it was fairly complete. in the past with my chevy i used a nos kit but that used a carb plate.

and then on hp tv last night i saw the zex kit which has the silinoids and such all in one small compact module..

any others i havnt touched on or that people recomend to look at..
and price is a concern while looking keep in mind.
