Alright. I need some help. My new car is running extremely hot. Its not even hot outside either. If it was full summer i think my car would just explode. Im going to try to check to make sure my waterpump is functioning as it should but otherwise my cooling system is in good working order as far as I know. I have the following symptoms.

-overflowing 2!!!! overflow tanks. One being a aftermarket one and the second being a mayo jar, thats only there to help me see how much coolant is coming out of the first tank

-running extrmely hot on everyday driving. do some consecutive pulls and the cars temps skyrocket.

- I feel the cooling system is short cycling, even when the car is overheating the cooling fan cycles on and off as if nothing is wrong. It does not stay on very long.

- The dash reads temps are normal but the logger shows it to be running really hot. and the fact that im pissing like a gallon of coolant.

Ok so what you should know about my car.
93 eagle talon awd.
20g, o2 dump w/tial, buschur FMIC kit, injectors and and safc, yada, no AC anything.
The previous owner only has one slim fan on the radiator now.Its mounted on the passenger side of the radiator. I believe a 12 inch spal.. ill double check later.
The fan might be inadequate but it moves a hell of a lot of air. In the future most likely going to make the spal a pusher on the driver side and i have some extra stock cooling fans. But I doubt that will fix the problem. I think the issue is where the fan switch is located at. I was thinking of relocating it but im not sure where would be the best place. i thought about removing one of the switches by the radiator cap and installing a t or y and puting the switch up there to get better readings. Any help or just ideas thrown out there would be helpful.

below is a picture of what im thinking.

Might want to check the seal in the rad cap i had the same prob getting hot all the time and i thought my hg lifted it was only my rad car so give it a quick inspection.

Are you overheating at idle or during cruise? Fan's don't play much of a role over 30mph, at which point you need to start thinking about airflow problems or cooling system failure.

so what youre saying is that by changing the radiator cap to a brand new one, the overheating issues might stop???

Hey guys it turned out to be my thermostat. I guess since the previous owner "broke" the car and let it sit for liek 2 years that it froze up. I recently put a new cap on it, so with 10 bucks i got a new thermostat and gasket its up and going again :thumb:

It was overheating at all speeds, I should have posted it.
Now im going to put another fan in because I plan on running it hard at the track, etc. so another one to aid the spal wont hurt me.

Thanks for all the help.
