As my topic states I'm currently having a problem with some "over-crowding" of my positive battery terminal, I was thinking of running a power distro box (1/0 in and 8GA out, 2:5) from the battery to supply power to my ignition coils (custom job - using 40 DPST relay to run AEM HO IGBT Smart coils), fuel system, and ensure that all the wires coming from the fuse box still have their power as well. With that being said, would this be a okay idea?

Each end part (i.e. ignition, fuel pump...) would be fused relative to what they should be fused to with an inline circuit breaker for protection, rather than set fuses. Basically this would all be in the engine bay, haven't determined if I'm going to do a battery relocation... any ideas would be welcome. Thanks guys.

Have you thought of doing a battery drop. Same location just dropping it 10 inches where the charcoal canister use to be. Instead of doing a relocate to the back. Also i think your idea is a good one. I did a battery relocation to the back and it was a major pain to make it look good. I had to cut my back plastic so that the battery would sit where the little compartment door is and that took about an hour just to get it right.

I'll have to do some research on that battery drop procedure, sounds legit. As for the power distro block I found something a little better, it's a 3/8" top terminal block that contains 8 post (circular) around this centre one... I think this may help me a bit - especially with the fuse box wires. Not to mention if I do the battery drop procedure I'd be able to position/locate this distro block in the original place of the battery, or close there of, mounted on the firewall.

I like, now I have more information to research! Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what can happen if you do have too many things hooked to the battery terminal?

Depends on what cables are attached, their size (AWG) and the size of the terminal. That being said if you run too much amperage through certain cables you can cause them to overheat and melt, as for terminals this should be affected by that theory but more of whether your required cables can fit that terminal. But all in all it also depends on your charging system, if your charging system (Alternator) can't handle the amount of juice being sucked out of the battery then you'll slowly notice a decrease in the life of your battery (won't last as long as normal), basically a parasitic effect.

As for the over-crowded bit, well you just run out of space really.

Did you ever end up doing anything with your idea? I'm going to be rewiring my fuel pump and I have a power cable for an amp, so I need to do something

Unfortunately I haven't yet, I did come up with something though, that 8 pole distro block I was looking at didn't withstand the power that would be needed for my setup. Once I find my little notebook that I wrote a schematic down in I'll post it in here so you can see what I've decided (unless you've already completed it).
