Over boost

Ok well i have a 96 with full exhaust works 20g turbo,fmic and i just recently switched from a electro boost controller to a hallman manual, and I still cant get the boost to stay below 20 psi I have a stock fuel system so i want to found out what is causing over boost Ive checked all piping on fmic and fixed the hole where the intake manifold was leaking but now i still cant find whats causing it? I have a guess its the waste gate and is there a way to check that it is or isn't i think its stuck open when under boost so it over boosts. Thanks lmk what you guys are thinking.

The wastegate would not be opening to cause high boost. If it was stuck open, the exhaust would bypass the turbine. You need to hook a hose from the wastegate directly to a good boost source. Best not to use the BOV hose. If you remove the hose from the source end to the wastegate, you should be able to pressurize this hose and see the wastegate rod (if stock) move at about 10 psi. Start there. Next is problems in the exhaust O2 housing, if stock, with the 20g. Tres.....

so your saying i need to hook up a air compressor to my waste gate and slowly add air if it opens and closes around 10 psi than its not that. If it doesn't work than is it bad?

sounds like you have a boost creep problem im having the same issue with my small 16g and it actually got worse after i installed the down pipe and got rid of the cat maybe an external wastegate might be the best sulotion!!

Thats what happen 2 i put a 3inch full and i cant since to get the boost to stay down
