Please help! Over boost??

Ok, I just got a 98 spyder gst about 2 months ago and the guy had a lot of eBay parts on it, and I am slowly getting everything fixed, but adding problems along the way. Last weekend I did a boost leak test and found a couple leaks and fixed them. I took car for short ride, and everything seemed better. During the week I was able to WOT and got wastegate cel. When I am just cruising, car is very hard to build boost in first and wants to shoot past 15 in every other gear. I tried searching and I am just getting a headache. Please help and thanks in advance!

You have boost creep, do you have a boost controller hooked up? If you do disconnect it and see if it still does it.

Yes I do. I was spiking at about 22psi and realized that it was hooked up backwards. I can not figure out how to get it to just run 10-12 psi. Oh and again, it's an eBay knockoff his one. I even tried removing it and couldn't keep stock boost, so I just put it back on

you could install a wastegate spring set to 10-12psi or just get a nicer ebc or mbc

Can you replace the factory wastegate? Better to go external if I am not trying to raise boost past 12-15??

yeah you can repace the factory wastegate

If you get a cel for the wastegate solenoid than that would indicate that the solenoid is bad or the wiring to the solenoid is bad. I would just run the hose directly from the turbo to the wastegate actuator for now.

Any good recommendations to replace factory wastegate? I am not trying to do a turbo swap just yet as my turbo has no shaft play I would like to try and hold off on it and get car stable first

Read my last post, it is likely the solenoid and not the wastegate actuator itself.
