I just got my car back on the road after 14b install. I have the wastegate actuator teed into the BOV line, no MBC just spring boost pressure. I do not have a nipple on my JPIPE.

When in first "car is auto" the car boosts to 10psi, when the car shifts into second it goes to 17.5 psi. When cruising, if I stomp on the gas, the car boosts to 17.5 psi.

I took the arm off the wastegate flapper and made sure it wasn't stuck. I pulled on the wastegate actuator arm, and it moves with some force.

From what I am reading, this does not look like boost creep.

Anyone have this issue before and resolved it.

Thanks in advance :thumb:

No cat, and its 3' all the way back. I actually just found a thread, that said something about the wastegate arm hitting the heat shield.

I dont have a garage, so I'm going to check that tomorrow. I can test it by doing a boost leak I have read.

I teed into the BOV also, and I had the exact same thing happen to mine when I swapped the 16g in. Mine is auto also. An MBC fixed it for me. I got an NXS controller off ebay for 20 bucks. Holds 15psi. solid, every gear.

Try using a dedicated vacuum source for your waste gate.

Ok update.

I hooked a hand pump to the wastegate actuator, and it moved open. It clears the heat sheild just fine.

We then took off the Jpipe, and had a nipple welded onto that, then hooking the wastegate actuator directly to Jpipe. I still have the same results as before, nothing has changed.

It is set at wastegate spring pressure, which should be only about 10psi. How could it go to 17.5 psi "hits fuel cut" ?

I just ran the line off the Jpipe to the wastegate actuator. Should only boost to 10psi.

Would the exhaust cause it to creep from 10psi to 17.5, actually I think its infinite boost, I'm just hitting fuel cut.

Yeah that's what's happening. My car does that from 14-25 except I have a boost controller and my wastegate just can't handle the free flowing exhaust. so my guest is you are going to have to externally wastegate your turbo. Thats what i have to do to mine.

i had this prob the other day and it was because it had a leak in the line to the wg actuwaiter so i fixed that and put a diffrent boost controoler on it and it works,

and its not the exhaust i have a full 3" with no cat and gook style mufler

i was hitting 26psi with a boost leak LOL on a 14b and it was suppose to be @15

and put your mbc on the fender firewall or the firewall because in other places it will get hot and make the spring hot

Joey we have the same car basically, look up NXS boost controllers on ebay, email them and say you would like the DSM discount for the boost controller. They will charge you 15 bucks shipped for one, they are very good and reliable. If you want someone to look at the car i live in grand rapids and make trips to the zeeland/holland area often so maybe we could me and i could give ya a hand if you need it.

I checked the vacuum to the wastegate actuator the other day. Putting the 14B on I had some clearence issues from the nipple to the intake. I did bend the nipple a small amount in order to make clearence. I tested it with pressure after that and it still worked. I am going to double check that hose again today, though.

Bluefire, I have a MBC, I am planning on trying, but I may order a name brand one like you said. Thanks for the offer to check out the car. If I dont get this figured out soon, I'll take you up on the offer.

Thanks all for your help. I wont really have much time to work on the car again until Monday. I will update then.

Boost controller will not fix your issue. It is supposed to be at 10psi off the WG spring, however if exhaust flows too well, turbo would push more psi. That is when you need to be careful, running over 15psi is dangerous even if you have bigger injectors and fuel pump.
I would say either upgrade your current WG, port your o2 housing or go external.

I'm on stock fuel system, so going over 15 PSI is a big no no!

I'm going to work on it on Monday, and will post the updates.

I may buy a tubular manifold, and open dump o2 housing, adding some bling bling. If I do that, I'm porting out the turbo like crazy!!!
