hey, so my problem is, the threaded part where the nut twists onto is stripped, and i was wondering if the outter ball joint is able to be replaced or do i have to replace the whole tie rod? or could i use like a thread chaser and repair it?

they are about 25 at auto zone. make sure count how many turnsit takes for the tie rod to come off so you can turn the new one is at the same spot. make sure you get an alignment afterwards. While your in there you might want to replace your axle.

To take it apart remove the cotter pin/nut, Then smack the the housing with a 5 pounder and it should release. If not you will have to get a pickel fork or and pry bar if you dont have one. give it a few good smacks... And you should be in there.. If you cannot get the nut off and do not have access to a torch ox/s. propane and MAP gas will not get it hot enough. You can try using a set of vise grips to hold the base of the threaded rod and hit it with an impact. Goodluck!

P.S like said above.. Get the CV fixed or youl regret it.
