Alright, ive read plenty on threads and done many different things, and still i have an oil leak in the timing area. Noones threads have helped me solve my oil leak yet. And i hope ill get some help if i post what my problem is. So far ive put rtv on every bolt i could think of. All new gaskets and seals (cams, oil pump seals, oil filter housing gasket, etc...). I still have the balance shaft. I even went through 2 sets of gaskets and seals on the oil pump assembly alone to double check. Torqued everything down. I took off the cover and ran the car up and down the driveway a few times, and oil WASNT leaking. If i let it idle, or rev it up while in neutral, theres no oil leaking either. The oil will ONLY leak after i drive the car. It makes it impossible to spot where its coming from because it splashes over everything...even with the dye. The only thing i forsure know, is that the oil runs down the oil filter housing when it leaks. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the exact same issue. I believe that it is coming from the oil pump gear even though I have a new seal on it. I can tell it's leaking like crazy but I can not stop it at all either. I believe I am going to have to remove the front case cover again

i gotta remove the front case tomorrow. it just sucks that its been going on for a year now. i have a few other problems with this car that i need to fix too, and this leak is holding me back from them. any ideas about the front main seal on the crank? i was told that that seal can leak if the seal is pressed too far inside.

Sometimes the oilpump housing can get cracks in it when they get pulled off. it's happened to me . mine was at the front main seal. it had a crack that went right across the main

I hade an oil leak just like that, it was all over but i could mostly see it driping of the oil filter housing. If you have a 91+ oil filter housing that uses antifreez it could be the o-ring in there.

i never checked to see if there was o ring inside the star shaped nut, ill check that while i have the case off. also toontowntalon91, i have the oil filter housing with coolant, but wheres the o ring inside of there at?

i see the oring inside the oil cooler. i replaced that. i was thinking there was another o ring in there somewhere. im iffy about that oring on the star shaped nut on the silent shaft. i dont think theres an o ring on mine as far as i know LOL. ill have to check that.

I know for a fact mine leaks at the allen headed bolt that goes into the front of the filter housing....when driving it does go everywhere....may want to check there....

Right next to the oil feed location if feeding from the filter housing...

i had a fram on, and it still leaked. now im using a bosch, and it leaks just as bad. for the allen head bolt on the oil filter housing, i put some rtv on the threads and tightened that up. anyone ever head of the front oil seal leaking? i heard it leaks if not seated just right...

i found it. it was the seal behind the front balance shaft. somehow the oil was passing through the seal and running behind the gear, then running down and getting all over. the new seal didnt help. so ill be going with the balance shaft elimination. but thanks for all the input :D

i also have a small leak on the front case and cannot find it for anything i changed every seal and it still leaks. its really small leak and i cannot tell where it is coming from. i have the t belt cover off its just broke in 500 miles i used synthetic 10 30 moble 1. i didnt put anything on any bolts either but i did put a short bolt in the pulley spot
i have the balance shaft eliminator kit also i just havent rtv every bolt should i? should i get different seals other than some from shcucks should i get them from the dealer? please help..

alright so you said you didnt put rtv on any bolt...so what your going to have to do is seal the bolts in the oil pump area that thread into the block. by this i mean if you were to take a bolt out, you can see inside the block. the best method is to take one bolt out at a time and check, and if it threads in the block, put rtv around the neck of the bolt. before you put rtv on any bolt tho, your going to need to clean each bolt you take off very good! i used brake parts cleaner and a rag. also clean the surface of the where the bolt will thread on with just the rag very good as well. also, just throwing one of the bolts out for you, your going to have to seal the lower timing belt adjuster bolt. that bolt will leak.

mine did that as well, i took off the timing cover, and it was the oil pump sprocket, i replaced the seal in there, but i guess it didnt seal. I bought a new one, lubed it to slide it in, and no more leak, even if i mash on it.

ok i will clean and rtv them today. when i put a seal in weather it is crank shaft oil sprocket or cam seal do i need to put clean oil anywhere to lube it? and when i put the new cam seals in they just slid in with my fingers i didnt have to use anything to press them in. i also want to know should i get seals from slowboy? just the place i order my dsm parts from.. i was told i need to use the upgraded ones not ones from the auto parts store. could this be why i get small leakage? also i thought about using the dye but the oil is everwhere its just flung around by my timing belt. so i thought it would be pointless. thank you mafia for you input everything is helping i just wanna get that damn thing to be dry :)

oh also can i push the seals in too far? such as the crank seal or the oil sprocket? would this cause the small leak?

no prob. dont bother using the dye. its never helped me out, or anyone i know. if your still leaking oil after the rtv cures for 48 hours, clean the whole area off with engine degreaser and try to drive the car back and forth down your drive way a couple times to get your enging built up with pressure, with the timing cover off, alternator and power steering belts. park it, and look for the leak as soon as you park with the engine still running. it should be coming only from where its leaking at this point and not spraying all over everything. i know my methods arent preferred by everyone else , but they've helped me find my leaks. and i hope they help you out. and remember your water pump will be ok if you dont keep your car runnning for more than a few minutes, so do this quick!

what do you mean by fall in??? what do you mean by flush? flush with the lip its going in? i just tapped it till it was in good and was even.. thats on the crank.. now on the oil sprocket should i just make it flush with the lip also? do i need to order the upgraded seals from a performance shop?

thank you mafia i will try this right away.. i was wanting to change the seals while the belts off i have them and its not too hard to do at that point. how far should they be pressed in and should i pu oil or lube them before install in any way?

ok and what about the seals will i need uprgaded ones other than the ones from the auto parts store which are felpro. how far should i tap them in just flush with the lip can you be detailed with this.
