Ok guys I am selling my car for a 1g and with all the extra cash I am going upgrade to a 50trim. I sent an email to both RNR and AGP. This is what it said:

I am interested in the AGP 50 trim t3/t4 with .63 kit you offer for my
1G. I have all the suporting mods what I was wondering was I heard bad things about PTE t3/t4's. People say they fail with 6,000 miles
because they aren't oiled correctly. How do you recommend to oil it? From the head or from the filter housing? I want this turbo to last if I am
investing 2,000 into it! Also. Why not go with RNR there kits are
currently for sale for 100.00 less then yours. I understand the kit
will cost 100.00 extra for the 50 trim option bringing the total to
1650.00. What is the approximate build time on the kit from the day I
call in to order until it is shipped? What is the shipping charge to
4251 W. 110th Pl. Westminster, CO 80031? So if I order this exact
setup I am describing above with shipping included what would be the total price. Also is there anything else I need to install the kit for
example a seperate oiling system from the filter housing? I hear some
people reccomend running inline oil filters to the turbo. What do you
think about that? At what rpm would I get full boost? 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear etc. Thanks so much, Kevin

This is what AGP said:

IMO the PTE's fail because they are built wrong, has nothing to do with
oil. Our oil lines come off the filter housing. You can get the RNR
kit, ask around about how it fits and performs, it uses some old technology parts:) Build time right now is 3weeks because we just ran out of manifolds. Shipping with insurance would be about $45. Total would be $1695. We have in-line oil filters for the turbo for $65 but they
aren't really necessary on a std. bearing turbo. The .63 will give you full
boost about 3900 in 3rd. Kevin

This is what RNR said:

We have had great success with PTE's turbos. We have never had one fail on us or a customer yet. We also believe our kit is better because we offer a lifetime warranty on our manifold whish we believe is the highest flwoing on the market. We suggest getting oil from the head. Most of the time we have them in stock. Right now there is a 1-2 week lead time. Let me know if there are any other questions, Ryan.

Opinions and feedback would be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Kevin

If you want a full Garrett setup stick with agp. Notice how AGP gave you a realistic lead time and a reason. Not the typical 1-2 weeks then dont return your calls for a month after taking your money:thumb: the quality of the parts used are second to none.

Run a quick search on agp you'll see:thumb:

pte tells you not to get oil from the head and exactly where to get it from, they are good with the warrenty whenever i have heard of a problem with somebody getting oil from the PROPER location for them. i love my pte 50 trim

How long have you guys been running your 50 trims? How many miles? How hard do you drive your car? At what boost? Thanks for all the feedback guys it's really helping me in making my decision. From the beginning I had an idea that AGP would probably be the one to go with. Also, I have heard both really good stuff about PTE and really bad stuff. There kit seems very well put together and they do know what they are talking about. Also AGP replied to my emails twice in the time it took RNR to reply once. The second question I asked AGP was what size O2 Sensor housing comes with the kit and Kevin at AGP answered both 2.5" and 3.0". I want to run a 3 inch. Is anyone have a 3 inch O2 sensor housing on there 50 trim? What downpipe did you go with? Again Thanks alot for all the replies everyone. Anymore feedback on the turbo's/kits/companys would be great.

You are going to have to go with a custom downpipe if you choose the 3" o2 housing option with our kit. There is no downpipe on the market that is a full 3" all the way to the flange.

If I where to go with a 3 inch as to a 2.5 inch set up would my turbo lag be noticable lower? Or would I get full boost at about the same rpm as I would a 2.5 inch 02?

turbo lag would be virtually the same if not a little better. Even with a 2.5 housing with a 3" d-pipe, that should be sufficient.:talon:

I made one thats a full 3 inches all the way to the flange. I used allen head button bolts and high temp loctite. Works great.

So are you saying turbo lag would be the same but maybe slightly better with full 3 inch? If I go with a 2.5 o2 housing what downpipe would you recommend. I am for sure going to run an Apexi N1 Catback because I love the way my 2g sounds and I get compliments all the time. The Apexi N1 downpipe is 2.5 up until the flex section then after the flex it's 3 inch and mates perfectly with the N1. So what do you recommend?

pics of the thing i just got hehe

OMG! Looking at those pictures is like looking at porn! I will look at those as many times as I will see Janet Jacksons Nipp slip on mtv! Very nice. When are you going to install? I want a review! Tell me what you think. What exact setup did you get? 50 trim .63 or .48? Once again very nice man. Thumbs up on that purchase.

well i have to send my manifold, o2housing, dump tube out to get ceramic coated first then ill do the install.

the specs are a 50 trim/.63a/r

as for the dp and exhaust, i am going to run the apexi n1 cat back and the apexi n1 dp also

why does agp say the pte's are "built wrong?" I dont see why you would have a problem as long as you run the oil feed from the filter housing rather than the head. Anybody want to comment on the pte's?

They don't hit the water pipe, but if they do just adjust the compressor
a little which will make thing's good.

Yeah I want some feed back from the PTE'rs on here. I hear horrible things about them. Is there anyone here that is going to back them up?

I have heard that PTE's are not that great of a turbo because the stock oil feed location at the head cannot supply enough oil under high boost levels and it kills the turbo in no time. That would mean they are built wrong. The problem with routing the oil feed from the oil filter housing is that you have this big long ass oil line that has to in one way or another pass by the exhaust manifold, O2 housing and DP and picks up a ton of heat along the way. Not good for the turbo either.
