Im currently running a 16G turbo (I FREAKING HATE IT) outside of the turbo bolts never staying tight, and how much the turbo loves to creep, im done with it. I want to upgrade to a 50trim. This should be the last huge upgrade for the car. Im running FIC 780 injectors, SBR FMIC, DSMLINK, blah blah blah, in other words, i have no support issues for the turbo. My Question is, who has one. I want some user feedback form dealing with AGP, and Some feedback on the turbo. Specifically the one from AGP, but any feedback on the turbo will be fine. If anyone has any DSMLink logs with that turbo, id love to get a look at them as well.

Thanks
Jerry

get 60-1 its way more worth it since you already have the supporting mods, go with the 60-1, i hAVE IT AND LOVE IT, FULL BOOST BY 4000, TRUST ME YOULL LOVE IT

word, get a 60-1.. I had a PTE 50 trim and when it took a dump (after a year!) i went agp 60-1

i actualy have a friend of mine who wants to sell me his 60-1 for $400. But its a little more then i want to put into the car. Sweet spot on that turbo is 24-26psi, and thats way more then i want to put on a stock 2G bottom end, plus like i said, its more then i want with this car.

not to mention their 60-1 is on sale for 699 right now. Just makes sense. Seems like the stars and moon are aligned just right for you, just give em a call and begin to own all on the street.

I havent dealt with them with my DSM, but a number of some of my best friends have dealt with them with their SRT4 turbo upgrades and the guys have been amazing. Great support, relatively quick at answering emails, great over the phone, and have really taken care of a buddy of mine who went as far as DRIVING to Arizona to have them do the work on his car and he has no regrets.

He wasnt happy with how his power pack (basically DSMlink for SRT4s) was working and they were honest and said they didnt have much experience with it but they said they still had his dyno logs saved and could tune an SAFC2 for him to their settings and ship it over to him next day, which they did, and the thing is a beast now.

The bolts stretch over time, repeated torkings and heat cycles which causes them to loose their ability to stay torked. New bolts/lock washers are in order.

I have the older AGP L2 (50-trim) model and love it. Ben is an outstanding turbo builder and has some of the best customer support I've seen :thumb:

I have the AGP 50 trim and I also have their 2g fmic kit. They are really good people and their customer support is fantastic. I dealt with kevin at agp, and he's probably the most helpful vendor contact i've ever dealth with. The guys up there are really helpful.

until it develops shaft play and starts spewing oil from the seals.

I personally wouldnt recommend a 60-1 unless you had a built motor or cams. To fully utilize its power. I have the 60-1 with a t04s cover and .82 ar this is one laggy mofo. I hate it. Im on stock block so im only running 17psi and it really doesnt make it there till like 4000.

Im getting a 50 trim or a GT30r this season soon. 50 trims are great turbos but so are 16gs. Its all in the supporting mods. The 60-1 is definitley a monster turbo but at this point I dont have the motor to fully utilize its power. Therefore im downgrading, I dont really want to build the block on this car at this point.

well i hope to have my RS49T in tonight sometime. I will let you know! Btw AGP is awsome to work with. They send me a wrong fitting for the oil feed line into the turbo and i called them about it. They sent it to me 2nd day air for free. Very nice people.

go 50 trim for a street car with stock internals, built internals even makes it better but not needed, and it loves pump gas

the 60-1 is such an old wheel why use that? 50 trim is better at lower boost levels and a more efficient wheel, especially on pumpgas

the 60-1 is an old wheel so it sucks? WTF

friend of mine went agp 50 trim. from what i have seen it works awesome on pump gas. dyno charts don't lie. :thumb: thats what i will be going with if i ever get back into the car habit.

im gonna go with the rs60t. The 60-1 wheel flows more air and makes more power for the same price... hmmm, why not go with it?

dre99gsx made over 500whp with the 50 trim, and something like 430 on the stock 7 bolt, unsure of that exact number

Dre's turbo was not the standard off the shelf 50 trim turbo from AGP. It was a full t3/to4e 50 trim with a pretty large turbine housing.

I agree. I got the AGP RS60T with stock blck and cams and it worked great. Added Comp cams 200's and it's just better! Spools very quick with the Bullseye turbine housing, starts at 2300 in 3rd gear and hits 20 psi by 4000. I also have room to grow with a built block and head. I have run 23PSI with a little 112 octane mixed in and WOW, even on mytired '93 7 bolt. 6 bolt will be the built block, 9:1. Mark

Yes, the 60-1 is a very effective turbo, but are you going to use the full potential of this turbo. The advantage of the 50 trim is that it is remotley reasonable to reach its full capabilities with a stock block. While there are people who claim they can reach full capabilities of a 60-1 with their stock block, it is not probable. While on a built motor this is a totally different story. Essentially, with both turbos in consideration, why not go with the one that will give you the same power (motor being the limiting factor) a whole 500-600rpm sooner. This will give you much more area under the power curve.

everyone has to understand. This turbo will be going on a stock block, stock bottom, stock head, no cams nothing. And its staying that way untill it blows (which i dont want to force the issue) Im really leaning more twords the 50 over the 60-1 because of the spool range of the turbo with a stock block. The car will be on the street, so i want to keep the spool range down.

They have the RS49T on sale right now, that's what I would suggest.

If your gonna leave the internals all stock. You should just get an EVO 3 16g. That would better fit your needs.

How are you torquing the turbo to manifold bolts? I've never had one come loose. I follow the factory manual's procedure for tightening them.

Ah nevermind that statement, just read you already had a 16g :D Well you should probably stick with your 16g. It might not be installed right. I ve never heard of bolts coming loose. People have creeping issues with a 50 trim as well. A external wastegate or a 02 dump might help you. I know when i had my big 16g it never creeped or anything held the desire setting all the time.
