Just bought this B16G off a guy off tuners. What do you guys think, he said there is no shaft play, however there is a few niks on the fins of the turbine. he said there was no prob with the turbo, just want some opinions from you guys that are hardcore experienced with turbos.

thks

well if worst comes to worst how much for a new turbine......other opinions welcome!!

yea man i saw the pics before i bought it, I paid 275 shipped for the turbo. It is a B16G after all. the guy said there is no shaft play and they were no signs of this turbo being bad when his friend was running it.

I mean the fins do not look too messed up....looks like there is a few niks on them.

OKOK....put it this way what happens when i fin or two gets a nik in it ?

if it was one "fin" that was "nikd" up it wouldnt be a huge deal. But pretty much all of them are "chewed" up. 275$ isnt a great deal considering it needs a new wheel which is around 200$. Could have just bought a new one.

IMHO, you got screwed if you spent $275 for that. I personally sold my b16g in perfect condition for $300 and have seen others go for the same price. With the turbine chewed up that bad, Im sure it threw the balance off and hurt airflow. It probably flows less than a small 16g now. And it has no shaft play yet but Im sure it is soon to come because of the imbalance from the chewed fins

yikes
i sold my ported big16g from RRE, with RRE Jpipe and SS oil feed line or $300 and it was in perfect condition.. no shaft play and blades were like new..

good luck with that..

He probably read this thread. ;)

I had one that was chewed up about like that. It was already like that on the car when I got it. I put about 6k on it with my 2.0l motor, and another 10k on my 2.4l. Daily driven and spooled constantly on that motor at 17psi. Still worked fine, no more shaft play than when I started 16k ago. I just took it off last week for a holset, it was just too small for the stroker. For that price, you might as week buy a E16g though. These mitsu turbos are tough. Thats a pretty standup guy though. Glad it worked out for you.

Keep looking, i got this turbo for 340 shipped. Thats 300 for turbo 40 for shipping. Not bad for a t-28 killer in like-new condition, no need for install kit so thats 340 bucks to get the turbo on the car.

i got a t25 for sale if you want some real power!!! haha, just look around. turbo's aren't something i'd just buy befopre researching it. may wanna go with a brand new one! but thats my 2 cents
