Alright so I've been doing a little research on what's out there for tuning. Now a good friend of mine has a 1g awd that does 11.17s and all he uses for tuning is a safc. He said works great for him, does what he needs. Now this guy is extremely intelligent so I take his word for it. Please do not insult him because he's fine just that, don't really want my thread cluttered with "oh he's dumb for using that, should use this blah blah blah". Now back to subject I currently have a safc but I would LOVE to have dsmlink. During my research I've also came across ceddymod? I'm unsure of what that all intales also I read someone saying oh get some flashable ecu and a cable for under $200? Where kind I find all this and with just the flashable ecu and cable what al is unlocked with that, what does it tune or can't tune. Also in other tuning threads on here something about ostrich? Any info will help and please no insaulting cause I am a newb asking newb questions LOL. Thanks

I would definitely go with ECMlink.:hellyeah: An safc can get you where your friend is, but ECMlink would get you a lot farther and safer because of the tuning abilities it has over an safc. As for flash I'm not to familiar with but there is an evo management system you can use I'm sure.

For tuning a 2g with just a flashable ecu and a cable I believe that you need an H8 ecu from a 98/99 dsm and a tactrix cable (hope I spelled that right). My friend runs his dsm with this set up. Hope that helps

Ecmlink would be the way to go in my opinion, better options and program overall with complete control over your motor, I don't have it yet but will within the next month as its a critical upgrade to running safely by what I see

i looked it up it seems legit i am goin to drop the money on getting it. do you know if it will help in adjusting the mass air flow

I really can't recommend ECMLink V3 enough. If you're tight on money, and who isn't these days, you can get V3 Lite for almost $200 less. It still has nearly all the feature of the full version, more than enough for me for now. And if you ever want to upgrade you can just pay the difference and they'll send you the new firmware to install.

I baught safc and ended up getting dsmlink.I find it easier to use. Its expensive but well worth it. As far as chips go, you have to get a new chip everytime your change injectors, turbo, and maf. If you get dsmlink, there is so much info on it on there forum.

ok cool so you dont have to get a new chip ever time?

I guess you just don't want to be bothered with reading and researching on your own, so I'll quote this for you from one of the ECMLink wiki pages I linked to:

The latest version of our product, ECMLink (V3), permanently records the changes you make to flash when you turn the ignition key off. So there is absolutely NO need for a new chip with new defaults. It simply doesn't have any meaning here. Any change you make is recorded permanently already. So there really are no defaults to change.

Please try to put forth just a hint of effort here; there are pages and pages of information available on just that one wiki site alone. ;)
