Okay, thanks for the help... I have rebuilt my 4g63. Since initial start up I have put about 150 miles on it. It has run fine until the other day. When it is cold it idles, runs and drive perfectly. After it reaches normal operating temp it will pull timing and die. It will not restart until it has cooled. This happens driving or just sitting idle. My first thought was coolant sensor. Replaced it today and same result. Any ideas appreciated!

Hate to say it but could be your MAF/ Your MAF has the IAT MAF and Baro sensors all in the same housing, Easy way to check. When you get it warmed and it runs like poo. Disconnect it. It will still run like poo but shouldn't stall out on you.

I replaced the one for the ECU. I will try the unplugging the MAF this weekend. So far I have searched for vacuum leaks and shelled out the cat. Hoping to find the cause soon.

UPDATE.. Still no go... I have checked and fixed boost leaks. I have shelled out the cat. I have replaced fuel filter. I have checked the MAF with a multimeter... it checks out except for reading ohms on pin 5.. low there compared to what I found on this site. I checked the coil packs.. the primary test read at 1 - 1.1v - chilton says .86 max The seconary test read 14s which is within.

So any ideas??? I am at a loss. Is the MAF or coil packs bad??

Any help appreciated!

No CEL. Last night I removed the Crank position sensor.. local parts store does not have a new one on hand and I am not sure how to test the one I have. So at the moment I have the acc. belts off. I will need to get that back together to try the MAf...

If you give it plenty of gas you can keep it running for a while longer.. but it runs as it it wants to kill itself... extremely rough.. backfiring... shaking.. BAD.

I had a guy tell me this is what his car did when the ecu was going out... possibility? How could I check the ecu? If replacement is needed does it matter what the ecu comes out of as long as it is a 2g? I have 99gst.
