So I'm running a stock 4g63t with a TDO5 turbo. I'm getting and new FP turbo manifold. And a 3 inch o2 dump with a meagan racing down pipe. And i wanted to know if i can just run it with an open down pipe and save me some money. And get a couple extra hrsp.

You mean running it with the open downpipe im confused, why would you want run it any other way?

Save money on what part? Horse power gains from this?

Im pretty sure he means with only a downpipe. Nothing else. And no, you won't see any gains as you are running a somewhat small turbo. Also, your off boost power will suffer from lack of back pressure. Not the best idea if you can avoid it.

I daily drive my 90 with nothing but a Megan Downpipe.

Is it loud? Yes
Is it annoying? Yes

Personally I am getting ready to throw a cat-back on mine as having the downpipe(My megan stops just under and between the seats) is annoying as hell.

I am also running 275 cams so it makes it worse.

You "will" get pulled over for it at some point in time.

I ran open o2 for awhile with no ill-effects. I'm currently running an Open punishment downpipe (still saving money for the catback LOL) with no problems. It is loud and annoying. I haven't been pulled over yet and have been running it like this for a few thousand miles now. Anytime I see a cop in town I throw it in 4th or 5th gear and just cruise. They haven't said anything yet, but there are some rediculously loud trucks around here as well.

You will hate the noise. I got lazy one time when changing the gaskets for my cat and down pipe and didn't tighten the bolts up properly.Long story short they popped off and it made the most annoying sound ever. Every time I hit the pedal it felt like a group of people were all yelling in my ear at once. I pulled over walked to a local home depot and bought new bolts and tightened everything.

I can't throw my car in 4th or 5th and cruise at slow speeds. My car is related to a Honda and seriously has no bottom end torque.

I run my 2g GST on an open downpipe. I've got a 3'' vband downpipe that's just a 90* bend that leads straight to the ground. It ends right past the hotside LICP. I love the sound of it; its really loud but it sounds badass when I get on the 2step. You can really hear the turbo spool which is the thing I love most about it. I haven't been pulled over yet and I live in Socal LOL. Then again I don't drive like a jackass so that probably helps haha. Oh and this is all on a TD05h EvoIII 16g.
