Yes its true, after months , getting ripped off, buying a njew engine, the car is back in my driveway, but I have a few problems. These problems happened just before the engine died so i accredited it to that, however i have the brand new engine and its still doing it:

Problem 1: My idle is all over the place

Problem 2: BISS screw is all the way in and my car idles usually over 1200, sometimes up to 2k!!

Problem 3: It feels like my RPM's drop really fast when i pushn in the clutch, like as soon as I press in the clutch it drops right down to around 500 or so then works its way back up to 1k+ , it was dropping to like 100 and felt like it was giong to stall so i put back on the stock intake pipe and now it doesnt do that but it still drops pretty fast

Now i should note the thing i did before this started happening:
I installed a boost gauge, intake pipe, MBC, replaced most if not all of the vacuum lines.
At this point i have hooked back up all of the stock intake system(including the boost control solenoid) but I do still have the boost gauge installed. I also have an intake cone instead of the box of course. Also at one point back when i first purchased the car i was reading through the DIY stuff and decided id touch the screw on the bottom of the MAS, i had it backed all the way out, atm i have it all the way in. I also installed a 2.5" turbo back SS mandrel Buschur exhaust with cat-co high flow cat about the same time.

Thanks for your help and man am i glad to have her back LOL

Forgot to add some thoughts i had come up with:

1.) SAS screw?
2.) FIAV/Throttlebody need replacing?
3.) My car hates me?

blah.. i know exactly how you feel when it comes to getting ripped off by damn mechanics.. i just got mine back also.. first off ive been told that screw is really sensitive.. something id def. leave alone.. problem number 3 is normally found when you vent the bov.. but since you mentioned vacuum lines id probably say that.. also if you changed your intake piping if there is a leak after the maf then im pretty sure that would bog because of miscalculated air? good luck.. oh and id go with answer 3.. dsms get cranky easily :(

no leaks and im recirc. so those 2 are narrowed out :(

The problem to me seems to be more ISC, TPS, SAS adjustment type symptoms

also much too late for BISS screw leave alone, its all the way in right now and at first i was like WOOHOO idleing at around 750-800 but then i wnet for a drive shut off the car, started it back up and i was ideling at 1700 again

hmm.. id say unplug your battery for couple mins and let the cpu reset.. then try to remember where the screw was originally set at.. only thing i could think of

heh, dont think that will help, fi its ALL the way in it should be practically ideling out, or at least low idle, if its at 1700 closed then moving it out def wont help

Does it idle high all the time or just when you've driven it for a while? Mine was idling around 2gs when I had been driving it for a while. Problem was a boost leak. Try checking that out if thats not it like was previously mentioned check isc and the tp.

good luck bro

honestly i dont know how to check for boost leaks, i can say i replaced all the vacuum lines with brand new lines(all the ones i could see anyway) and i checked from the intake cone to turbo no leaks that i could find.

Checked the ISC and TP unfortunately requires tools i do not have atm and it being a sat and me having just paid for my car i am flat broke and nothing is open LOL.(need a multimeter)

The inlet on the t25 is 2.25 so go to the local plumbing shop or a home depot, lowes ect... and get a 2.5'' rubber plumbing coupler. then what i did is got hollow plastic hex nuts and stair stepped it down until I got smaller to screw the air valve into one of the hex nuts. The whole thing only cost like $17. Then you put it on the inlet of your turbo and shoot 20 psi in and listen for the leaks. If you find out where you think its coming from put some soapy water on the area and it will bubble from the spot its leaking from. I can take a picture of my tester I made and post it if you would like

Have you done a compression test?

What engine did you get? Rebuild? What was done to it? Just curious.

This is a very frequent topic: Idle problems

1. Check throttle cable, mine needed loosening, it shrinks over time with age, made it idle too high. Poot foot under throttle pedal when car is running and idling high, lift up on pedal with foor, if it goes down, you know it is sticky and adjust it.

2. ECU could be going out.

3. ISC could be bad.

4. Did you adjust your BISS according to the FAQ? You are supposed to ground out the timing advance and the ECU. Here is the link:

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BISS-1G.html

5. An air leak somehwere, wher unmetered air is getting in: make sure all your hose clamps are tight, throttle bottle bolts are tight. You could also clean your intake with some intake cleaner (or brake cleaner also works well).

6. MAS is plugged in and working?

7. TPS could affect it a little bit, mine did. But the TPS usually doesn't affect idle in a real big way, but slightly higher then normal.

PS Sorry some of this is 1G answer, it's all I have owned.

Engine is from mark at Overbore, 3g lifters, balance shaft removed, .02 over, yada yada

I loosened the thorttle cable then turned the BISS up some and it seemed to be a little better btu still high, I did not do any grounding or such before adjusting, NEAD adjusted it in this same manner so i thought it was ok? What am i doing/hurting by adjusting it with the car on and not grounding out the parts you mentioned?

My idle is all over the place, I can start the car, it will start at about 800-1k and then ill drive and come home and shes ildeing at 1200-1500.

Mas is plugged in , and working fien as far as i can tell?

Please do post teh pic of the boost tester, i dont have a compressor however so getting 20psi to it might take some blowing haha :D

Also The shop did all the work for the engine install and as far as i know the plugs are right LOL

also since i loosened the throttle cable and turned the biss out a little it hasnt come close to stalling, or that i know of
