I usually just lurk on this forum for research purposes and can usually be found on the DSMLink forums, but I'm fed-up with not being able to post on Tuners since I'm a Probationary Member, so...I'll try to post-away here. Feel free to help out, if you're inclined.

Adding another post...we'll see if I can break-out of all this BS by talking to myself! :D

Damn sub-24hour post-merging! So I either need to post once every 24hours, or try to help some noobs...oh well.

Posts here don't count toward good tech posts anyway.

Just can't win, can I? This 30 post-count thing sucks. I realize it's a good way to get people to help in the Newb section, but...is there a test I can take to bypass Newb-status? :banghead: ...as long as it isn't the "random question" about who makes the Talon or Laser or Eclipse. It's not intuitive. DSM or Diamond Star Motors seems to work sometimes, but other times it doesn't, and neither does Mitsubishi, Eagle, or Plymouth. Grrrrr...

I hear you there brother 30 posts is a lot when you arn't one of those people who hang around posting endless crap about there car all over the internet.

I have been on the MR2 forum probably longest out of any forum and have maybe 200 posts total in 10 years, and I have a shop that specialize's in building MR2/Supra's. I only like to post if someone is being mislead or no one has helped them....

Poor Rich, cant find any old login info? Or just never registered in the beginning?

Maybe post up some info about the 2G you saved from the rice gods, and also post up some info on the fwd tire roaster?

Is there some sort of vouching system? Rich has some knowledge and veteran time in the DSM game. He just never got much sun.

Welcome! I just saw a very helpful post by you, enjoy those rep points! A few more posts like that and you will be a full member! But since you started this thread (even though it won't help your post count as you had hoped), feel free to tell us about your DSM's and post pics!

Haha...thanks for the street cred Ted! Aw damn...I think you just earned a new nickname! :)

Hey thanks! To what post were you referring, so I can better gauge what passes for "helpful" around these parts?! Just kidding.

I've been a DSMer since September 18th, 1998 when I bought my baby: the white '95 GS-T. She was a rescue...from the used lot at a Ford dealership! I love that car to death. It has taught me 90% of what I know about cars and modding it to the point where it currently is has been one hell of a journey filled with pain, loss of money, the gain of numerous good people to call "friends", and an unmeasurable amount of fun and trouble. :D They tend to go hand-in-hand, no? The GS-T is currently in pieces, waiting for it's new Ross/Eagle 9.0:1 stroker, HX35, oil cooler, trans cooler system (I'm on FWD trans #5 at this point), etc. etc. etc. full build-up. I'm debating on whether or not I want to start a build thread for it. We'll see.

I recently bought a black (previously red) '95 GSX that I've dubbed "The Red-Headed Step-Child"...a JE/Scat 2.4L w/ 50trim. It came to me "already built" by some guys who had ZERO business even looking inside a DSM engine bay. It was their "sponsored show car": Ricey stickers all over the outside...coilovers all out of whack, oil leaks, filter relocation kits, Base FP cranked to 60psi, 2L kevlar timing belt installed 3 teeth off in either direction on zero'd out adjustable cam gears, bent valves, downpipe cut into 2 pieces and never rewelded, blown alternator, honda sized battery relocated to the trunk, center console hacked-up to house 2 gauges and painted black w/ red armrest, door panel inserts painted red, whole interior painted black except the dash and front seats, gauges wired backwards to drain the battery, external wastegate dumped right off the manifold directly onto the rad fan, weird AEM FIC-8 piggyback computer, crappy-fitting IC pipes, AC deleted, antenna shaved (and resultant gaudy satRadio antenna installed), no windshield wiper arms...I'm sure you get the idea. It's been a nightmare, but it's definitely convinced me that I know what I'm doing at this point. The car is slowly being transformed into something clean-ish that I'd put my name on. Almost. We'll get there.

I'll have to see about pics...:hmm:

I'm with Rich. I've been wrenching on Mitsubishis for 24 years now. I generally don't need anything so I don't have much to post. I would still like access to the classfieds. It takes too long to get to the post count for me.

Rich, I've got you beat on multiple fronts. ;)

Bought my 1st DSM new in 1990, bought a 2g in 1996. I've had a GVR4, still have the 600+ awhp Talon and a mild modded 3000GT VR-4... AND probably less than 30 posts on here.

Welcome to my world.

With all the tranny questions and issues we have here Paul? You could be at 30 posts in like 2 hours tops. :)

At the bottom of your user control panel there is a section called "latest reputation received". If you look there you see at least one from me. Click on it and it will take you directly to the post that was repped.

If a member of the site staff (Wisemen and Moderators) recognizes a post as being helpful (usually above and beyond the normal) we can issue Rep points. These points add up and the more you get they are shown as green chicklets under your avatar, they show all the other members who is more helpful on the site. (The same goes for blatant misinformation too, negative rep points.)

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you with the "red headed step child". If its as bad as you say a build thread seeing its transformation from "rice to nice" would be a good read! :thumb:

Just don't ask him about a boost leak :sneaky:

I guess you didn't read my other posts.

The guy just messed with a part. Now it's not running right. Start with what you just messed with. If that doesn't work then look elsewhere. I didn't say it wasn't a boost leak but logic points elsewhere to me.

I didn't say it wasn't a boost leak...

It does not sound like a boost leak.

Thanks for clearing that up. WTF

*EDIT - Let me be clear, I'm not trying to start anything or come off like a jerk. You will find that I am a very friendly person. But when I replied to the thread and said that his symptoms sounded like a boost leak, and then you replied after me and said that they did not sound like a boost leak... you can see how that can be taken. You might as well have said that I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about... I hope you understand how that rubbed me the wrong way; Especially since the problem ended up being a boost leak (and a very large boost leak at that). But I'm glad that you cleared it up here that you didn't say it wasn't a boost leak.

Rich, I am very sorry for cluttering up your welcome thread. Please continue.

Nothing to really add here, except welcome to the forums. It's great to have so many knowledgeable people so willing to help others :thumb:

And I used to live in Morgan Hill. Right off of a Monterey Rd. Good times!!

This is after getting it running...and some de-ricing. Mass amounts of stickers FTL.

It was hell trying to get all of that ghosting off of the black paint. The vinyl stickers were added less than 24hrs after new paint. :( Lots of micro scratches still. <sigh>

Temporary state of the engine bay. Lots of stuff to do here, including spark cover, non-cruise cable so I can move the giant fuel filter out of the way to put the battery back in the stock location. I have plenty of stuff to go in the trunk. ;)

And here's the 3rd brake light I had to make, so I can pass the brake and lighting inspection the DMV wants to clear the salvage title for registration. Such a pain in the butt. I've been waiting on my local "Gold Shield Certified" shop to get their certification renewals for the past 3 months, so I can have it done. Until then...it sits, and I dick with it.

Well, this town has the ability to suck people back into it's vortex, so...let me know when you're back! :p There aren't many DSMers down here. Most of the people I met at the NorCal DSMTuners BBQ in San Jose came from pretty far away. Basically around here there's Josh, Ted, myself, and a couple guys I met from Salinas.

Need to get back up to Sac to hang w/ the Old Crew soon too!

I watched some of that car get built. last I Saw it had a 4g64 block and a GT35R. It was supposed to be the shops show / race car. I was wondering what happened to it, and I can't wait to see what you do with it!

:thumb:

edit: Went through the thread and read about how it was when you found it. That poor gsx...

Black looks good, but what a 'b' to not have scratches show up.

One thinks scratches and they suddenly appear without reason, so what's the trick in keeping x-13 "Kalapana Black clearcoat" from attracting scratches?

.... and I like the 'Mitsu' outline trademark - just adds enough flare to the design. Good luck !

You saw the rape and didn't report it? :nono: Haha.

Well, you're close. 4G64 block/2G head...and a chinese T3/T04E 50trim. It seems to be a decent turbo at 15psi, but I'm sure it will try to kill itself at 20+. I'd really like to toss a Holset HY-35 on it and sell the 50-trim.

That shop needs to stick to Honduhs and FastNFurious drift machines sporting mad-tyte JDM stuff...because, believe me, they had absolutely NO clue as to what they were doing with this car. I even tore them a new one on Yelp and they somehow had my review removed. I plan to go back and re-up it after I have a complete list of everything they did to ghey-up the car.

I'll be glad to have it running, though. I'm about to reinstall an AC system in it...black car in Cali w/ no AC? I don't think so. It will mostly be driven on roadtrips...and when my GF doesn't want to ride her Ninja, because there's no way in hell I let females drive the FWD. ;) Sorry ladies.

Thanks..the Mitsu logo was the only decal on the car that I liked, and the previous owner agreed. I was going to take IT off too, but I wanted to pay SOME homage to the car's past...and it DOES add a certain something without making me look like I'm an asian gang member. :shhh:
