As in I know its fine to run them oil cooled only but can I just completely eliminate the coolant lines on the turbo itself? Running no bolt/line and just leaving it empty? Would that be a boost leak?

Or do I have to put the coolant lines/bolt on the turbo and block them off? thanks

Sorry not to thread jack or anything ,but what exactly is to gain from removing the coolant lines other that easy removal/install?

Installation ease, that's it. Coolant lines are a huge pain in the ass because every time you drain the rad the turbo holds about another half-gallon of coolant which shoots all over the floor the minute you pull a coolant line.

I normally just cut the lowest coolant line on the filter housing and let 'er drain, then just replace that tiny piece of hose.

This has me curious now.

What are opinions of running coolant lines on any turbo?

Opinions on how big the turbo can be before coolant lines should stay?

Would oil changes be more frequent due to not having coolant lines on the turbo?

It makes sense to me that with or without coolant lines on a turbo that the cool down time (idle time) would be the same? If you have coolant lines on there, and just shut the car off immediately after some hard runs, what is the coolant going to do? It's not circulating and cooling like it's designed to right? So with or without coolant the cool down (idle) time should be about the same right? Yes I can see that someone should let their car idle a little longer with no coolant lines, but the difference only being ~15-45 seconds longer.

I know this could start a big debate, I just want to hear some educated opinions here :D

Wait a sec guys. I just did this on mine. So I dont need anybolts on the turbo then if I delete coolant from it? I have bolts in there now with a bunch of washers and it looks ghetto. Can i remove them because I blocked off the coolant lines from the t stat housing?

I see above and from what I read to "remove the bolts and whatever" just wanted to duouble check. I dont have 500+ posts just asking for reposts? I only wanna know if I should remove the bolts completely or what because I already blocked off alll coolant to turbo.

If you would have read the posts on this thread you would have seen where it said you don't need the bolts or anything just leave the whole open and it will be fine.

Post #3 in this thread. "Just leave the coolant ports wide open."

Yea I just wasn't sure if you could completely remove all the coolant fittings and everything off the turbo. Now that think about it though its pretty obvious. If there was oil/air getting into those lines your coolant system would be full of bubbles and be chocolate brown from the oil. In hindsight this was a pretty dumb thread to make :p

Thanks again for the confirmation though guys.
