sooo i bought this performance chip for shits and giggles seeing if this would do anything to my car cause i'm on hold for boost
here's the website for the chip
MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 1990-2009

check it out, and i wanna hear some opinions about what it actually will do cause i'm curious, cause i really doubt that this thing will do all what it says. i been reading and i've seen people just say its just going to add more fuel, that true?
i don't know, enlighten me please

It will require you to get your ecu socketed to put the chip in if you even have an eprom ecu. I would steer clear as it is not specific as to what it does as far as timing/fuel, etc. Start with some proven mods like intake, exhaust, etc

I hope they honor that guarantee at the bottom of the page!!! (just in case)

I doubt it will just add fuel. Maybe try and e-mail them to get some facts ya know?

Please please please please return that chip. Just take the shipping hit trust me. It's ridiculous. Like the "power packs" they make for hondas that have two wires that are attached to a resistor. It's so painful it hurts.

Wait, you paid $70 for that thing? ROFL

If you ever get the urge to do something like this again, send me the $70 and I'll print out the page on the link above and send it back to you. At least you could use the printout as toilet paper, which is more useful than the chip they're selling.

so post the installation instructions so we all know where this chip is supposed to go.....

like someone said above it is probably no more than a 5 cent resister

i'm really bored right now quarter to 3 in the morning so im deciding to write up the instructions for this "performance chip" as someone asked

1 disconnect the negative or the positive cable from your battery, this must be done!

2 Locate your IAT sensor. If you cannot locate your IAT sensor please refer to a repair manual made specifically for your vehicle

The IAT sensor plug usually has 2 wires going to it. In some cases, your IAT sensor will be integrated into your MAF or AFM sensor.

3. Once you have located your IAT, determine whether it's integrated into the MAF or AFM or if the IAT is isolated into a 2 wire plug. (90% of vehicles have the IAT isolated into a 2 wire plug) if your IAT is isolate to a two wire plug follow step a below. if your IAT is built into yoru MAF or AFM sensor follow step b below

STEP A please unclip the 2 wire plug. then, take 2 of the quick splices and attach our module to the wires going to the IAT sensor. LEAVE THE PLUG DISCONNECTED! then cut 2 small pieces of electrical tape and place them over each end of the IAT plug that you disconnected
STEP B please unclip the plug going to your MAF or AFM sensor. there will usually be 5 wires going into the MAF or AFM plug (sometimes there are more wires, this will not matter

then it just shows a diagram of a MAF plug and what each wire does

but yeah those are the instructions, i don't know what the hell its suppose to do

I knew it either had to do with the Intake Air Temp or Coolant Temp Sensor circuits.

It's not a performance chip, it's a $2 resistor. You should try to send it back for a refund claiming it did nothing to help performance and actually hurt fuel mileage or made your car's Check Engine light come on.

Some good reading on the topic.

I had a kid at my college buy this and install it in his 1998 corolla. He swore he gained 15hp ROFL

Man there are alot of NJ DSM owners!

And when I told the kid that it was just a resistor, he told me I was lying. So he opened it and showed me the circuit.

It was a 3 resistors connected to a board w/ possibly a basic op amp. Everything you could get for $4 at ripoffshack.
