Ok I know someone is going to get mad... I have done hours worth of research and was wondering if anyone could tell me if my car has a 6 bolt in it or not.... i picked this GSX up for 1200.00 and sadly cant tell if its a 6 bolt what i noticed was the CAS and the oil pan does bump out..... Also on the front of the block it says JDZ? or something along those lines? so I will see if i can upload a pic of my engine bay and the CAS and yes it was RE WIRED I didnt do the wiring job so... Please give me a hand?

If thats the stock motor, 7 Bolt.
1G's have the 6 bolts. 2G's got the 7 Bolt.
But, you took pics of the wrong area for us to be able to tell for sure...
Sorry, but HOLY SHIT about that Manifolddd.....

yeah the turbo was shot when i got it... i got a new comp t3 coming..... i hope soon!! what would you guys need to see pics of.. i to get more on but it said i exceeded my quota... also i know the 1gs have the 6 bolt and 2gs are the 7 bolt but i cant tell in this car...... i had a 6 bolt 90 awd before.....

well the car was started i had 2 to put it on a trailer and get it home... she fired right up and yes the oil feed line to the turbo was not hooked up, that turbo was already shot when i purchased the car... it also does have a CEL on but i got a scan tool so.... main thing is what pics do you guys need to figure out if this thing has a 6 bolt? it looks to me as if the CAS is wired directly into the 2g harness... i need to straighten out this wiring mess... and what does JDZ2 stamp on the block mean???

Some misinformation going on here. 89-92.5 DSM's came with 6 bolts. 92.5+-99 came with 7 bolts. Not all 1g's have 6 bolt motors. If the oil pan bulges out then its a 6 bolt. Look to see if the driver side motor mount is ground down for a 6 bolt like it should be when swapped. It could be possible someone swapped a first gen 7 bolt motor but if your pan bulges out like you describe it should be a 6 bolt.

How to quickly tell a 6bolt and 7bolt engine apart

Already has pictures provided if it bulges out its a 6 bolt if it bulges in it is a 7 bolt simple as that.

1G CAS and mention of a bump on the oil pan. Chances are it's a 6-bolt. Just need a picture of the pan to be sure.

Thanks everyone I know this was an old post but ive searched and searched... anyways new pics tomorrow of the oil pan, intake manifold and side of motor.. also the intake manifold has no stamping what so ever... the person before me im assuming polished it and sanded everything down. the coil pack is right behind the valve cover not like in a 1G well you guys will see im taking pics tomorrow and will look for grinding marks on the engine mount.
