I have a 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, and I was driving and my drain plug backed out, and my car loss all of its oil, and the car stoped. I decided to go and get a 6bolt, and once I did they mechanic said my oil pump was clogged, and stoped the pump. What I was wondering when that happened is there an electrical safety that turns off the engine when this happens. When I push the car it still moves, the wheels arent locked up, so I'm not sure what happened, also is there an electrical switch or something to reset, or something to that nature?

Your oil pump is mechanical...its two gears connected to your timing belt. As long as the engine is spinning, so is the pump. If your mechanic says its clogged, take it off and clean it out and check to see if its ok. If its all good, put it back in and it should be fine. Your motor might not however...is the oil pump you are referring to in your 7-bolt?

yes its a 7 bolt, 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. So I'm not sure what happened. This would of stopped the engine from working, so could of this caused more damage t the internals of the engine?
