Hey guys tired of searching for hrs so I figured I would do a quick post so here it goes. after my car sat for the winter while I was rebuilding the engine i had my down pipe on the ground turns out that mice has crawled in there had baby mice and left a nice nest in there, so I have decided to eliminate the cat due to blockage(no emissions). so I'm wanting to weld in a piece of pipe in its place but before I cut i need to go get a pipe to fit what size is the stock piping on a 1g fwd auto tsi (this is only temporary for break in going 3" after)? if I remember right I think its 2.25 but not sure.

1g dp is actually 2 .25, and abuout 2 or so where the mesh stuff is on the dp.

So ebay is yor friend if you want to just go ahead and do a turbo back 2.5, 2.75, or 3 inch.

You could have your local muffler shop make you a test pipe for the stock cat size. Then go with a new exaust down the road.

Although, a back woods redneck thing to do in my area is grab a long screwdriver, and hollow that cat out.No more clogged cat;)

Ya man the cheapest way to go is just get a long screw driver or some kind of crow bar or pinch bar an drive it into the guts of the cat an knock them out

Or you could unbolt or cut the converter out sell if for scrap and bolt in a reg straight pipe from napa , etc prob cost like 15$ including clamps. Or.....
Just get that flexible exhaust tube stuff def not for permanent fix but will work temporarily

Take a tape measure, measure the inside diameter of the piping on the cat, go to auto parts store and get a pipe with the od matching the id of the cat, hammer said pipe into cat (make sure you have the proper length too). make sure pipe is clear of any blockage, then bolt it back on the car. Thats the way I would do it.

Ok got it all taken care of the only problem is the problem i was having to make me remove the cat is that the car was really sluggish im mean slow when accelerating from a stop problem is still there now I dont know what else to do fresh rebuild 16g is good timing is right but I'm ruinning rich all the time and stoich when at idle it goes stratight to rish when i accelerate from a stop

I had a similar problem an after chasing it for while it wound up being the coil pack. I replaced both an problem went away.

Ya I figured it out. Turns out the cat was plugged and that didnt help the hesitation, so I checked spark timing the works. After about a week of frustration i decided to check the tranny codes just in case it might be in limp mode. No codes I then took the tcu out and inspected it, this was the problem so I just got a shift box and everything is well.

Ya I'm in the process of getting a wideband 02 just blew my cash on new axels broke the short shaft launching on it...LOL:ohdamn:
