Here's my deal. My I was driving fine and dandy, in my 91
gst, than just like that my alternator died. Did checks to make sure and it was gone. Bought new one installed it next day and thought I'd be set. Don't get me wrong, my alternator problem was fixed, but to my dismay, another problem arose. My stock oil guage is pinned on L and my oil light blinks on and off during idle at times and constantly comes on when accelerating but goes off when I let off the gas. When I turn the ignition on without starting engine the oil gauge goes all the way up to H but once running drops back down to L. Now, I know some possiblities are the oil sending unit is bad or connection is bad. I did try to better the connection but did not yet replace the sending unit. And while replacing the alternator I did plug and unplug the connectors to the sending units on top of a couple of stupid arcs from forgetting to disconnect the battery. My worry is that it is the oil pump, and the L reading on the gauge is true. Engine temp is normal and I don't seem to feel any difference in running condition. So I am definetely hoping it is the senders. If anyone has had this happen or can give me some sort of relief or grief about it being the oil pump, I woul greatly appreciate it!

. I read on another thread to take the dip stickout, take off the oil cap and rev the engine to see if oil squirts out to check if the oil pump is working. I did this today before work since it only took a minute and oil was squirting out. Now is this a trustworthy test? Or could oil just be squirting out because of the moving parts in the engine including the engine or whatever? I just don't want to unnecessarily disassemble the front case and go through the time and aggrevation of it all to find out that's not even the case.
