I just swapped my 7 bolt for a 6bolt and since the swap was done my stock oil pressure gauge has been low. Now i replaced every gasket and seal in the engine prior to putting it back in, no oil leaks at all. The only thing i can think of is i reused the 1g oil pressure sensors on the oil pump. Are these sensors the same or different from the 2g? They looked the same that’s why i kept them in but is it possible that they are not compatible with the 2g ecu/gauge?? If thats not the problem then i have absolutely no idea why my oil pressure is low.. any help?

I think they are different sending units I swapped all of mine over so I have the proper readings for my oil pressure I would use my best guess that if you use your 2g sending unit the pressure should come into check.

You are better off getting a aftermarket gauge so you know its accurate. 20 psi at idle hot is normal

finally drove my car today - i did the 6 bolt swap but used the 1g sensors. i think i'm going to swap the 2g sensors on though since the 1g ones seem to be giving my stock gauge and light strange signals.

Thanks for the input on this subject. Just wondering if any aftermarket gauges such as autometer or ac technic would work with the 1g sensors or are there special sensors that must be used with these gauges.

I have the autometer ultralite electronic gauge and it works great. It comes with the sending unit. The electronic oil pressure gauges are more safer to use because you dont have a oil line going into the cab that could leak if not installed properly. Its just as accurate as the mechnical gauges as well. The autometer gauge comes with a 100 psi sender that takes the place of the factory sender at the filter housing.

on the corner of the head where the oil feed to the turbo is there is a screw. could you run a braided line to that and read oil pressure?
