Ok, today i was looking in my car and noticed a spot on the floor, then i look at the wiring under the steering wheel and see the wires covered with oil, i dont know where on the line to my oil pressure gauge is leaking from (i hope not inside the pillar) and then i looked between the door jam where the dash meets it and you can see a little bit of oil in it, what should i do, get a new line or a new gauge? would auto meter send me a new gauge if its messed up? it is the phantom series gauge. thanks

Your going to have topull it apart and find out where its coming from. It might be as simple as the connection isnt tight enough. I would recommend geting a isolator so you dont have to run oil inside your car. You hook th isolator up under the hood, and the line that runs to the gauge is filled with antifreeze. Its a whole lo easier to clean up in case somthing happens. Good luck

All I know is Im never installing a oil pressure gauge again. When I bought my car the guy before me installed one and for some reason when he did it he bent the line where it went into the oil filter housing, so it was about to break. I didnt know untill I was on the highway just cruising looked at the oil pressure and said zero. Temp gauge was maxed. Pulled of the highway and all I could here was rod knock. The damn line broke and all the oil drained from the motor welding the #1 rod to the crank. I had about 3000 miles on the topend and some fresh pistons. The head was good but the bottom end was gone all from a guage you really dont need because you have a stock one. I would buy a different guage like EGT or something.

I hear horror stories about the copper lines, but I myself never had a problem with a mechanical oil pressure gauge or the plumbing. I have had them in numerous vehicles over the years, and will continue to have them. I think what t all comes down to, is the person running the lines and making the connections.

jeff didnt my dad just tell you 2 days ago to get rid of that plastic line and go with some brass . when i get out of work we will find the leak.
