All oil sender threads are merged here.

going down the road today i noticed my oil pressure gauge was reading nothing or zero depending on how you look at it..on my stock gauge..

i immediatly pulled over to check my oil and found that it and the rest of my car was fine..its still running fine and everything so i came home to check vfaq.com and it said that my sensor could be the culprit..

so my question is there a website or link to a page that will show my hw to check my sensor??? and or replace what is needed to read my oil pressure... or shuold i just say #### it and get a aftermarket gauge right now because its more accurate anyways?..

yeah im new around here so go easy on me..but i didnt think this was a dumb question or anything so thats why i put it here..

Yeah I was just replacing the stock one and I was told it should be metal but this would have to be some really messed up metal.

The part you were screwing into is aluminum, so I dont understand how you could have cracked it. Get a pic so we can better help you out.

Cast aluminum is not that hard to crack. It will take some force but very possiable. If it is aluminum you can try to get it welded. But it will be very difficult because the cast aluminum is very porus and will be filled with oil. I cracked an cast aluminum oil pan on the mounting corner and it was a pain to weld.

Where is the oil pressure sensor on the 4g64. I really want to tap that for the oil feed instead of taking off the oil pump which is crazy!!

okay there are three wires down near the oil filter housing, one is a blue wire that goes to the PS pump, one is yellow with a red stripe (?oil pressure gauge?), and another yellow one and i dont know what that goes to...

i assume the yellow and red one is the oil pressure gauge wire because when i ground it, the oil pressure gauge moves up about an 1.8th of an inch... but when i clip it onto the sender it does nothing, i have tried 2 Oil pressure sensors and the results are the same...

i dont think both senders are dead, but i dont thenk the stock guage is dead either because it moves when i ground it... anything else i can check?

so my gauge is probably faulty... is it supposed to go the very bottom when i turn the car off? mine is stuck about 1.8th an inch above the bottom line and only moves when i ground it...

I have a similar problem, but mine just stays at the very bottom all the time... I think my gauge is dead...

So I just bought an aftermarket oil press gauge (it's better anyway) from GlowShift... I'll install it as soon as I get it...

I dont know where to look or what it looks like on a 2gb any help?
(Installing a prosport oil pres. gauge)

also what is the sender size fitting because the prosport is a little to big and I was told its a 1/8" fitting ( I need to buy an adapter to fit) . Does anyone know?

Do you know where your oil filter goes?
If you do, you're in luck
because thats the same place where the stock unit is located. It looks like a bell, rounded kind of thing and it has one single wire attached to the tip.

You can better find it from underneath. Jack that baby up remove the stock one and compare the threads. I did mines too long ago to remember the size.
if you need a picture, or more help let me know!!!!!

That oil pressure sender I cant find it on my spyder Id THINK it would be the same, but its not

So is it in a different place since im N/A rather then boosted?

How do you remove the oil pressure idiot light sensor in the filter housing? The FSM says I need a special tool. I was thinking vise grips but I don't have any and I figured that would damage it.

well, unless you're trying to hold two things together, vice grips are stupid to use on anything like that. If you don't already have some, don't get some, because it sounds like you'd be prone to using them on your car.

"put the vice grips down and step away from the car" hahaha.

Sorry, I think you guys are talking about the the sensor for the gauge, I was removing the one for the idiot light. No hex on this one unless I missed it  either way I used pliers with tape around the ends. I needed to take it out because it broke when I pulled my engine.

If it's already busted, what's the worry? Yes, there is a socket made for oil senders. I've never seen one. I use Channellocks.
Do not use teflon tape on the threads. Permatex #2 only. Do not over-tighten-- the sender uses pipe thread, which is tapered. It will split the filter mount housing.

Yes Do not over tighten that at all. I did, broke it and the housing cracked and its $75 and there is a bolt behind the timing cover so you gotta take all that off.

I was removing one from another oil filter housing. Thanks for the info on sealing it.
