ok, so since i bought the car, the oil pressure gauge and oil idiot light have not worked properly. i checked the pressure with a cheap mechanical gauge (installed it right where the oil pressure sensor goes, on the bottom of the car), and it was getting decent pressure. ended up thinking it was a bad pressure sensor, replaced it, but the gauge inside the car still does not work, along with the idiot light (stays lit when car is running). i'm thinking maybe it's the gauge that's broken. can anyone out there give me some input on their cars gauge please.

when i turn the key to on, the gauge needle goes from no pressure all the way to high, then slowly drops back down to no pressure again. is this normal operation for the oil gauge?
when the car is running, it stays at no pressure... so i'm just paranoid about something going wrong while i'm driving, and not knowing that my pressure is dropping.

Well, of course the pressure's the first thing, and it sounds like you're okay there. Next check would be the wiring from the senders to the dash, and the connectors on the back of the dash.
