I Just Installed My Autometer Electric Oil Pressure Gauge And When I Turned On My Car It Shot Up To 100psi At Idle. When I Shut The Car Off It Went To 25psi And Then After A While To 0psi. My Stock Gauge Stays At Like Half. I Use Castrol Synthetic 20-50w Oil. I Was Told That Is Too Thick. Can The Oil Be The Problem??

definetely not i had 20-50w in my eclipse and at idle it was about 20psi (i have balance shafts removed) and when i got on it the most it ever hit was about 80 psi.

rule of thumb for every 1000 rpms the oil pressure should go up 10psi.

i would say check your wiring and see how that goes

let me know..hope this helps !! ;)

when you start your car on a cold start, it should go from 80-100psi then slowly down to 12-20psi after a bit of idling.
