Okay, I stupidly forgot to put the oil pickup pipe on, as I'm rebuilding the engine from scratch and I haven't attached the front oilpump case yet. So I have ARP main studs installed and torqued. Then I see my oil pickup pipe lying on the bench and realize I forgot to attach it to the main bearing cap.:ohdamn:

SO...:hmm: Instead of pulling the cap nuts off and doing the retorque all over, can I cut the attachment leg off and just have the pickup pipe fastened at the oilpump case?? Or is that asking too much for strees to possibly crack the pipe.

Do it properly as it's picking up oil from a specific location :thumb:

Re torquing your caps is much better than potentially having to redo your motor from it not receiving enough oil.

Cut the brace off. Enlarging the hole in the base and mounting it on the arp stud actually changes the position of the pickup, as the arp nut is thicker than the head of the factory bolt. Putting it under the nut is not a good idea either, it can change the clamping force of the nut/stud.

Thanks, you actually answered, what I thought was going to be the problem. As much as I hate to think about the support being missing, I did consider the fact that the torque value might be different and the position being off I hadn't considered.
