Do you need to use a gasket on the oil pickup tube when putting it back on the car? I didn't use one and just got the car back together and when priming the motor I'm not getting any pressure. Just wondering if this could be the cause.

Yeah, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you need one. Get an OEM gasket for something that critical.

Sorry, but there is no two ways about it. You are gonna be sucking in air without a gasket and f_ck up your motor in a hurry.

Also, my motor didn't see any oil pressure until it actually fired up. The priming sh_t didn't work b/c the starter only spins at about 250 rpms.

As long as it didn't turn over and run for more than a few seconds you should be fine with just dropping the oil pan and putting in a gasket.
