Just curious if anybody elses oil pan has gotten rusty so bad that you've had to replace it? i have a 1991 eclipse gsx, the car was very well kept NO RUST on the outside but for some reason the oil pan is rusted to shit i'm afraid it's going to rust through, i put some clear sealant for now..but how hard is it to replace a 1g awd oil pan? thanks

Mine did the same thing. When I rebuilt my motor I sand blasted the oil pan and painted it, but the finish didn't last long. I eventually replaced it because one of the turbo drain line nuts stripped.
All you have to do is loosen up the driver's side axle carrier bearing so that you can get to a couple of the bolts on the back side of the pan. Should be good to go after that.

what a pain in the ass though, just another little thing that i have to spend money on...that 80 bucks or so could go towards a front mount but noooo oil pan has to be shit!

At least, that means that the various engine gaskets from your car are still in good shape! :D Mine leaks so much oil from everywhere (valve cover, oil cap, oil filter housing, oil pan ...) that my oil pan still looks like new because of all the oil covering it (and protecting it :p )!
