Ok.

Ive taken the front case off now 3 TIMES... and i still have oil (moist) on the timing belt, a spray of oil on the hood right in-line with the timing belt, and it looks as if its coming from the idler pully/tensioner pully area.

I have NO ideas anymore what it could be. ALL gaskets and seals were replaced, such as the front case gasket, oil filter, crank seal, oil seals, etc. Everything was put back together via the Chiltons manual and the vfaq directions.

The thing is, that it only happens under boost (at ANY boost pressure). If i rev the engine in the garage, there is no spray. So, i clean up the hood to take it out for a drive, then when i come back from a 2nd-3rd pull, there is splashes of oil on the hood right above the timing belt and on the inside of the belt.

just an idea but something similiar was happening to my car as well and it ended up being a hose on my power steering pump coming loose and was getting what looked like oil spray on the hood, timing belt cover, and valve cover. pretty much the whole intire driverside engine bay. so it may not be from the actual boosting but rather when you are steering the power steering pump may be spraying. so i would check the hoses for leaks and make sure they are on tight. good luck.

Well, I did some more testing, and it does it under normal driving conditions as well. Its RPM related. I took apart the timing area and removed the motor mount, and found oil behind it. Another place my friend found was the cam seal, that could be flinging it up from there.

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top...since no one cared, knew, or had any input on.

Im still having a problem with oil getting on the left side of the timing belt (like in the pics above), but for some reason, i cant find the leak. There are no puddles, drips, or wetness on the bottom of the motor nor anywhere else where it would normaly be. I just changed the front case seal, gasket, and EVERYTHING ELSE that goes into taking all that crap off.

any ideas???

Do not run the car, as oil impregnates the timing belt and causes stretching. The last thing you want is to jump timing and bend some valves. I just got done with a timing belt job due to oil soaking the tbelt. I would suspect the cam seals if you're lucky, and I would possibly look into the headgasket, being the worst, leaking externally on the tbelt side. My cams seal was shot, and it would drip oil down from the head and all along the tbelt side, making it very hard to tell where it was coming from.

thanks for the reply.

I just replaced the cam seals and sealed everything correctly. I have been driving the car now like this for over a month, and its fine (plus, i dont even get on the car anymore anyways). Its not totaly soaked, there is just a line of oil (moist, not soaked).

Im guessing as well that it might be the headgasket, seeing that ive been pushing the car previous to this up in the range of 20-21psi with my 550s. It has about 91k on it right now, and might be getting to the point of falure on the headgasket.

Heres another pic of the TB side. You can see the oil seeping down the inside of the mount, but there is no oil on the HG.
