hey guys. so I'm STILL sorting things out with this car. i did the head gasket with ARP studs, water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt, and all the gaskets along the way. drove it like 500 miles then the timing belt skipped 2 teeth(overnight) and ran like shit because the ONLY part i didnt replace was the auto tensioner(i reused it). so i put a brand new one of those on and put it back together. then i compression test it and it did great still(so happy, so lucky). drive it, and it burns oil, then i find puddles by my injectors, on the intake manifold runners, and spraying on all those sensors and hoses around. so i boost leak test it and felt air coming out 1 of the TB gaskets. s0 replaced both of those. still getting oil on intake manifold. so i checked the valve cover gasket and it did have some slight kinks(probably put it on too tight), so i replaced that and only used a 10mm on a knurled extension to tighten them down very snug but not too tight. now i don't get any oil from there. and i also checked the oil cap. theres no oil that visibly dripping down the back of it. boost leak test holds good now. but I'm still getting some oil down there.

i wiped all the oil off and drove it a few miles gently(out of boost) and came back to see no oil. then i do the same exact few mile trip while driving it hard, and when i got back there was some oil there. but i wiped the back of the head and under the valve cover off and they were still dry(so its not the oil cap or valve cover). but theres oil next to my injectors and on the intake manifold. the runner by the timing belt is dry but the 2 runners closest to the TB are getting oil on them.

does anyone have any ideas of what else it could be? should a boost leak test find it?(because i did it and it held good i thought) and could this be the intake manifold gasket?(because i don't know how else oil can get on there)

yes i did also replace the PCV valve because it was clogged. and there is no oil coming down the side of it.

but i don't know about the head. i mean i did have it off, and it looked good. car is bone stock, has 106k. how would i check for that? wouldn't the compression test have shown that?

Double check the valve cover. They can leak sometimes where its hard to see it. Did you install a new gasket at all on it?

I believe the question is, Is your PCV system stock and functioning correctly?

The pcv valve is only one part of the original stock pcv system. Before you go and check if you head is cracked or warped, I would get a manual and check if you have all the original component an vacuum lines set up. Many of us here have cars that have been modded to high hell and most of the "extra" systems have been removed/deleted. I know, since most vacuum lines have been removed, I run a line for my PCV valve to a catchcan to a check valve to my intake manifold.

goodluck

my dipstick has popped out before and Ive had oil on my manifold due to a bad valve cover gasket.

I would think if its leaking that high it would be a valve cover issue.did you put a little rtv around the corners of the half moon gasket of the valve cover gasket kit they like to leak there. Also not to be smart but I would use a torque wrench the german torque spec (good n tight) doesn't always work.
