oil light

I started my car the other day and the low oil light came on, right away i shut it off and checked the oil level and it was good still. Also the stock oil pressure gauge and my after market gauge read good pressure. Anyone else experience this problem? Would this be the sending unit taking a crap?? Thanks in advance.

The oil switch wire probably came disconnected somehow. The switch is located on the oil filter housing, below alternator. The wire should be attached via a small screw to a sensor sticking out the oil filter housing

i have the same problem sometimes it will turn off but it just keeps coming back, even after i replaced the oil return line gaskets.

DSM_Ant, do you have a good aftermarket oil pressure gauge? The OP has good oil pressure for sure so no reason their light should be on. But if you don't know the oil pressure there might be a reason you have an intermittent light

Loose sending unit wire is what caused mine to flash.

thanks guys i will check tom for the wire. if not the issue should i look into replacing the sending unit?

i am having a similar issue except mine only comes on when im at a complete stop. As soon as i accelerate the light goes away i think the wire on my sending unit is loose and/or going bad but it doesnt happen everytime i drive the car. Any thoughts?

Do you have an aftermarket gauge to give you actual oil pressure values? It might be a loose wire or the sensor might actually be doing its job by telling you low oil pressure
