Oil leak and odd sound....

Okay I took of the top part of my timing belt cover and seen this...oil leak directly underneath the cam gear. I am wondering if it is leaking from just this area will it cause oil to be everywhere inside the timingbelt cover? Here is issue number two the sound it's coming from the on the rightside (driveside) of the top of the motor near the timing belt area.

That is not the main seal, that is a freeze plug and should not leak oil. I would suspect your camshaft seal is leaking down on to that and pooling there. Additionally, if that plug was leaking oil, it would not get "flung" around the timing cover like it has or be on the lip of the plug.

The noise sounds like a worn out bearing. When was the timing belt last done? Does it go away when the engine is revved up, if the A/C is on, or when turning the steering wheel?

It didn't go away at all..but today after driving it it went all and on top of that it's warmer outside today too. I knew it seemed like a barring but I can't pinpoint where it's come from. To me it sounds like the idler because it seems to be in that area. The timing belt was change at like 70000 miles since I missed the 60000 mark. I know I am over do for one right now because I have 157000 miles on it. My question is the cam seal is leaking will it throw oil around inside the timing belt cover like that??? I am taking it to Mitsubishi next week and I just wanna get an ideal of what before hand.

In the video are you talking about the nasty tick or the more grinding noise? My gf's GST just started making a similiar noise to the grinding and I believe it may be the a/c compression bearings going. I've never heard a timing pulley make any noise before, so I don't know if that would be it or not? Might help solve my noise too.

Did her's go away or is it still doing it??? Mine away today and now I am letting it kool down and see what happens.

On top of the cam seal, check your valve cover gasket as well. The clunking sounds like a bad knock. That screeching, grinding sound could be your timing cover eating the timing cover. Sounds insane, but on my 420a, my tensioner bolt snapped..causing the belt to come loose slowly..and ATE through the cover with a horrible sound.

as far as the camshaft maybe it not tightened dwn, idk
and to me the nise kinda sounds like valves

I know the ticking sound is the lifters but I am talking about the grinding sound. The thing is when it's really cold out it makes that sound as I have noticed but when it's warm out I don't hear it.

clean off that cover, put it back on, and try to see where it could be leaking from.
That pic looks like dried oil that could have been there for a while.
Also watch out because you don't want to get oil on your timing belt, thats a big no no.
