I know it said you can rotate the pklate andy way so hopefully ill just face the sensor on the other side and hopefully it wont interfere at all. Guess ill find out Saturday

Thanks man i appreciate it. I knew something wasnt clicking and i had to be overlooking something obvious and i was.:D

Well i tried to fit it on and it barely cleared with the stock downpipe and im pretty sure it wont with my 3in megan racing one that i ordered so im SOL :D

Hey everyone.
I'm looking at installing the Prosport oil temp and oil pressure gauges, and this adapter plate seems like the best solution to my installation (see pics below).
However, I'm wondering if these adapter plates would affect the oil cooling ability of the 7-bolt motor which has the factory water-to-oil cooler inside the filter housing.
Also, I'm hoping to add an external oil cooler sometime in the future, and was wondering how this adapter plate would work with an external oil cooler filter mount for the 7-bolt motor (such as the one Mach V sells).
Thanks for the info!

Anyone use the greddy or no name brand oil filter sandwich that goes between the filter and the housing.
I'm thinking it might be an inexpensive way for me to install my oil pressure gauge, oil temp gauge, and do a external oil cooler on my 2g. This way I don't have to change the oil filter housing itself.
What do you think?

Anyone got any feedback on these?

Yah I'm trying to avoid the money on the foward facing housing if I can. I think machv.com is the only place that sells it for a 7bolt.

I don't see an extra port on there for an oil temp or pressure. Just one for the feed and stock oil pressure.
Also with that, are the holes tapped for the an fittings. It doesn't look like it.

Anyone else use this sandwich? Can you take off the stock cooler housing or does it have to stay on?

yea the stock cooler is inside built into the housing, there is no way to physically remove it. what you have to do is loop the coolant lines or block them off hence no longer using the water cooling.

please take pics and review this product if you get it. curious to see how close it makes the filter to the downpipe.

I want to, just dont want to buy it and have it not fit. Unless does someone make the oil filter housing without the cooler? One that isn't $85+

The ebay glow shift version doesn't appear to have outlets for an oil cooler, is that correct? I mean it has "4 ports" but they're more appropriate for sending units and oil feeds, right?

Also, the FFWD part, does anyone know if that one has the right outlets? I can see where they would be, but for all I know those are casting holes and not threaded or intended for that use.

The sandwich one makes me quite nervous about clearances, plus it doesn't appear to provide much benefit? All I see is easier sending unit setup. not exactly an awesome product, but I'm sure its very useful in some situations.

This version eBay Motors: New TD Oil Cooler Sandwich adapter 95-99 Eclipse 2.0L (item 120273914229 end time Oct-15-08 03:23:04 PDT) looks more appropriate for use of an oil cooler, but I wonder how effective it would be. Regarding the design of an air cooled housing, would it not direct ALL the oil that passes through the unit to flow out one hole (through a cooler) and back into the other hole? Otherwise, whats to stop the oil from bypassing the higher resistance of an oil cooler and just stay hot and not get cooled at all?

Maybe thats not how it works, but if it is, I'm wondering if these sandwich adapters are made with that in mind.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying but if I'm reading it right, you're wrong.

The stock oil cooler is not part of the oil filter housing.

I used a sandwich that was setup for an external oil cooler. It was more of a pain then it was really worth to be honest but mainly because the setup I got (glowshift) was crap. The piece and everything was great, but it required you kept the stock oil cooler on there. The bolt that goes through the center and attaches to the oil filter housing was too long to just use the sandwich.

So from my experience the Glowshift kit (unless they've revised it) is not worth it because it doesn't take out the stock cooler. Not only is that pointless and require you to loop lines, but it puts the oil filter right next to the downpipe, requiring you drop the downpipe everytime you want to change the oil and potentially raising your oil temps.

exactly like i said, you cannot physically remove the stock oil cooler because its built into the oil filter housing, you also state it yourself above. and what i said about looping the lines, so if you say i am wrong, so are you :p

the purpose of people getting air to air is to step away from the water cooled unit. it tends to get damaged leading to coolant mixing with the oil. so keeping the coolant lines running to it even a sandwich to get an air to air, defeats the purpose..

people who inquire about the sandwich are 7bolt owners because our only option for an oil filter housing with the air/air ports are the EVO one and they cost $150 I believe, definitely not worth it enough for most people to switch. So sandwich is a means to have a cheap alternative.

if the 90 oil filter housing worked with 7 bolts, believe me this thread wouldn't be made..
