I'm trying to remove 1 of the 8mm plugs on the oil filter housing to route my new oil feed line. I tried one of the plugs with penetrating oil and cranked on it with a breaker bar and all it did was round off the plug. It's not to the point where I can just spin the allen key in there yet, but if I keep cranking on it it will become that way. How did you guys get them off? Would the easiest be to just weld the allen key to the plug and try and crank it off then??

I used a propane torch to heat the plug for a bit. This helped loosen the sealant on the threads. Haven't had one round off yet doing it this way. If you've already rounded it off with the allen wrench then you're in for a bit of a fight trying to get it off.

Yea I had the same problem. You have to heat it up with a torch and it will come right out. It must have something like the green loc-tight that holds them in. A little heat will solve all your problems.

alright thanks guys ... I'll try that today. I didn't round it enough to where the allen will just turn yet .. it was just starting to strip a tad so I stopped.

Not to bring back and old post but can you heat it up while its on the car right...
